Good food and great cooking class!

Cooking class with Made was amazing. I DO agree that the book they sell ( that she wrote) should mention her name - which it doesn't. Seems very unfair from ViaVia in my opinion... read more

Cooking class with Made was amazing. I DO agree that the book they sell ( that she wrote) should mention her name - which it doesn't. Seems very unfair from ViaVia in my opinion! She is a great cook and an amazing person. The food is good and not too expensive - I even had the Broodje Smos ( typical... More

We did the tours 'Local village by bicycle' and 'Culinary tour' with Viavia tours. Both tours were absolutely amazing and in our opinion, just as much a 'must-see' as the classic Borobudur and Prambanan visits. If you have to choose and are limited in time in Yogya, we recommend everybody to choose one between Prambanan and Borobudur, and do the... More

Yogya can be very hot but the walk through the backstreets and neighbourhoods hugging the Kali river (or, 'cho-day') is easily paced and it's nice to have structure to a walk that you could do by yourself but would miss out on alot of detail if you did. Please heed ViaVia's recommendations about dress for this tour and for Yogyakarta... More

We booked 3 tours with ViaVia. The first was a cycling tour to the temples of Prambanan. Our guide was Fio and she was really nice :) As we are used to cycling in busy traffic, we made our way through the city easily (but might be more challenging for non-cyclists). We stopped a few times to take a rest... More

I took ViaVia's culinary tour today and it was great! It's so much fun to travel on the back of a scooter and visit really interesting places around Jogya. My driver/guide Norman was fantastic; she was a great driver and very knowledgeable about food. We visited several spots of which the cookie factory was my favorite. Tried lots of great... More

We visited the villages near Yogjakarta by bike, with Fifi as our guide. The bycicles were very basic but good enough. It was a beautiful tour with stops at a family producing krupuk, one producing tempe, and we also followed the entire rice harvesting process. We even planted some rice ourselves. Recommended for people who prefer nature over city and... More

Walk in & start your day with a freshly squeezed juice & a slice of red salmon on toasted sourdough with delicious eggs drizzled with home-made hollandaise sauce & hipster spinach, should be all I need say.....to help you plan your visit to Jogja ;-)

We had a great 4-hour tour with a local girl Nomin. We went to traditional market Pasar Berinharjo and found out a lot about local medicine called Jamu and learned about herbs and spices used for it. After that we went to actual Jamu place for little kids where we tasted some Jamu medicines. We also made our own face... More

We did the Kampung Village tour via Horse and buggy. I decided not to do the bicycle tour (that we initially wanted) as you must cycle on the main road for 15 minutes - I did not feel this was safe. We saw authentic villagers making tempe, crackers, planting and harvesting rice, making bricks etc. My kids got to participate... More

Today we did the cooking class with Viavia in the morning. The chef was a lovely lady giving cooking classes for 20 years. Make sure you take the morning class, because then you join her to the market to buy all the ingredients. This market is a place I would never discover/dare to walk into by myself. She explains you... More
