The Sambisari temple is under the ground which is different from the other temples in Yogjakarta. Place is well preserved and worth a quick visit.

The Sambisari temple is the different temple type if you compare with others temple in Jogjakarta. Recommended to visit if you want to explore temples in Indonesia.

We were surprised to find this big difference compared to all the other temples we have seen. It was obviously digged out, it is well preserved and there was many statues absolutely complete.

The complex of Sambisari temple is situated close to the Yogyakarta Airport. It consists of one main temple and three supporting temples. The guide told us that the main temple building is unique since it does not have shoe basement like other temples in Java....More

If you are on the way to Prambanan temple, the Sambisari is worth visiting. Not a must do but it's a nice stop.

Sambisari was submerged in meters of ancient volcanic ash and became a padi field when the farmer hit a rock while ploughing his field. From this they found the lost Sambisari temple and perhaps many more will be unearth..what an amazing finding.

Great place, the temple is located close to the adisucipto international airport. This temple is Hindu temple, and 5 meters under the ground.

I think you can just go there as long as the library is open. It is right in the middle of the library building. They might ask for fee like when you visit other temples. It’s in the campus of Universitas Islam Indonesia... More
