Loved this difficult to reach little museum near the volcano. My personal guide took me through the museum and chatted with me about life, the universe and everything. She was amazing! Explained aspects of Javanese culture and history, discussed religion and politics with me, talked about local hobbies and habits and home life. Wonderful! Also a nice little restaurant next... Ullen Sentalu is a museum about the history of the kingdoms of Yogyakarta and Solo. It's about the differences in the batik if these two kingdoms, about the lifestyle and the persons if the kingdom. You get a private guide who explain all to you, in a good English. The museum is in an old typical village in traditional houses.... More

No pictures allowed. This policy doesn't changed since my 1st visit back in 2010. Only certain spot u could take pictures.but thats fine with me. The architecture is blend with nature. Along the way u'll see water flowing in clean drain. It came with the philosophy:all good things will come and the bad things will carry away. Small group with... More

This museum is very unique and we're not allowed to take photos of the collection. We can't just wandering around without our tour guide so yeah it's like a private tour and in the middle of the tour we get a traditional drink... worth it!

Located quite far from the city, but definitely worth to visit. They have great collection of paintings, transcripts, and artefacts which were very well preserved. Admission price was 30K, tour guide included, plus a glass of jamu. You will have an amazing experience during the small group tour with detailed explanation and seeing the whole compound will make you appreciate... More

My 6 y.o daughter really enjoyed her time here. She asked many questions to the guide and she answer with loud and clear answer for young children. Some of museum "items"... More
