The museum is located about 25kilometres from the city of Yogyakarta. It was amazing experience when I visit this museum. I got knowledge about the stories of Princes and Princesses from Java Palace (especially from "Surakarta" Central Java and DI Yogyakarta), and I learned about Batik. There are many kind of Batik with the difference motif, they look nice. Unfortunately,... More

I was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It is hidden at the foot of the volcano area Kaliurang. A guided tour is a must and we had to wait a few minutes to wait for the english speaking guide to finish the previous tour. Ratna welcomed us and gave us a very good insight into the royal life of Yogyakarta... More

For someone who loves history, this place worth to go and wait. But of course not till 30 minutes. Highly recommended! With awesome English speaking guide. A side note, not every Chinese looking is from china. Not every Indian looking is from India. Our guide made a slight mistake on that which sorta offended some Chinese and Indian tourists.

A beautiful private collections. Through it we could learn a lot of the greatness of Javanese culture, how it impacted the life of the people who lives in the era until now.

The whole place is amazing. An underground tunnel. A sort of canal section. A kind of roman gallery courtyard. And much more. It has a Skyrim feel to it. The guided tour takes close to an hour, even though the guide talks at twice the normal speed (still easy to understand, very articulate). It's informative and they can answer many... More

This museum is privately owned. It has a really interesting architecture - built in a maze like pattern. We joined the English guide tour. The Museum has interesting artifacts from 2 kingdoms of - Jogja and Solo. We enjoyed the lil trivia and learning about the history of the 2 kigdoms. They do not allow photographs except for a few... 30km away from the city, if you love the history of the Yogyakarta kings, you have come to the right place.. We grab a taxi that cost us 80-100k from the city, bought the tickets for 30k per adult, including the entrance fee and a tour guide. The whole tour took us a good 45 mins with lots of historical... Lovingly built and maintained by one of the old Solo royal family (apparently?), this place has a real personal warmth to it that makes the trip so compelling. The buildings and and the setting are beautiful and the exhibits all well managed. We stopped there for lunch too - largely because we just wanted to spend more time in the... More

The location is a bit far from Yogyakarta, it's about an hour drive heading towards the mountain side. The museum is pretty, well organized and well maintained. It focused on Javanese history, especially the history of the royal family of Mataram kingdom both in Yogya and Solo. It's a guided museum where you will be put in a group of... More

It was my first time visit this place. The local guide was okay but she spoke too fast. I did not get chance to visit the restaurant because of the time limitation. One of my suggestion is to let the restaurant is opened for public --does not have to enter through the museum. Overall, it is a nice place to... More
