Seriously, if you guys looking for something adventurous yet quite challenging, this could be the best place to do so. Imagine using a jeep to pass through the rocky volcano. It also has the evidence, real evidence from the local's house which got struck by the lava, we can witness it ourselves.

It was nice to visit this wonderful place once again. Been here 3 times, but last time with my family and they were so happy. We rented a Jeep with driver and he was so nice and explained to us about Merapi history. What a great memory.

We went for lava tour by private jeep at merapi volcano and this really wonderful experience. As it's quite dusty, so wear a mask will be good idea. We visited the museum where the originals items and fossils that hit by heat clouds displayed. We've seen some cows fossils, destroyed household appliances, destroyed vehicles caused by heat clouds. Other than... More

Something that any visitor to the area should consider, we went on the longer tour and saw many different locations. The aftermath of the 2010 eruption is everywhere and the some of the sights are extremely memorable. If Western you need a good English/American speaking guide and a quality Jeep as the many old US army ones can become quite... More

After almost an hour of bumpy jeep rides, we stopped at the foot of the volcano. We could see the green valley extending deep into Merapi but the journey has to end there as there is no road for the vehicle. You need to walk into the valley to explore further. There would be a much more fun trip ...

The trip was fantastic and at the same time very adventurous. Driving in a jeep on cold lava was a life time experience. Also we saw the remains of the villages, and the devastation created by the volcano. Merapi is a life volcanolast erupted in 2013. And it has records of devastating eruptions every 10-15 years.

Paid for a jeep to get up as far as we could go; you can't climb the volcano. Neat museum which is melted building from the eruption in 2010. Great spots for pictures and the off-roading in the jeep was fun but if you want to hike, this is not the place to go.

We took a ride in one of the many jeeps that were on offer and enjoyed the ride. The summit was cloudy but still had a great time. It's very interesting to see the trail of lahar left by the last eruptions and its amazing to see the size of some of the rocks that are larger then trucks. It's... More

Early in the morning, at 4 am we already headed to Merapi to catch the sunset. It took about 1 hour, we arrived there. The day was still dark, we continued our trip by old open rooftop jeep. The road was very bumpy, really off road but we liked the adventure. We arrived at Bunker Kaliadem for waiting the sunrise.... More

The easy to reach the place on 1000 meters above the sea level is a cool place to get there without hassle. Good clean surface of the road make it easy to feel the mountain coolness within 30 minutes travel time from the city of Jogja.
