Mt. Merapi is one of those place that you have to experience first hand without googling on what it is like, I have successfully climbed the mountain with my Land Rover Freelander 2 all the way from the Jakarta and I must say that I am thrilled with the obstacles and history that the mountain holds. If you happen to... More

We arrived at Merapi around 8am local time and our driver straight away took us to one of the travel agency. Only a few jeep left (meaning tourist has started to come up earlier than us) and one of the tourist guide approach us and explained on the package available. Due to time constraint, we choose the basic package (museum,... More

Super bumpy but fun! Had a nice driver (Surya) who helped us snap pics and carried our bags. LOL! The view was awesome, must come here when you're in Jogja! <3

Something I did not expect to do. It was something really different plus an opportunity to see the devastation of the last volcanic eruption in 2010. A mixture of 4 wheel driving & scenic appreciation of Mother Nature. Various companies are available to book these tours. We used Toyota Land Cruiser Merapi which we were very satisfied with. To avoid... More

Merapi volcano are such beautiful mount covered with amazing local stories along with those documentary abandoned village museum. In Dec 2016 there's 26 Jeep Community in the area which can take you for Merapi tour, I recommend to use 3 hour Elang Merapi Jeep tour. Didn't do the full hike up the mountain. We rode by bike towards the base of Mount Merapi, first to Kaliurang, then to Kaliadem. Got abit lost at first, as the offline map initially led us to another part of Kaliurang, and we got quite alot of curious looks as we rode into the where the villages were located. When... More

It is nice to see an active volcano [ not a live one]. We went by a jeep trip through many of the travel agencies there. We are allowed by vehicle only up to the base. If you want to go closer, you have take a hiking trip- of 4-6 hours, if you have time and energy! They show you... More

We paid 450,000 each for this so called ‘Amazing Merapi Volcano sunrise Trekking’ , Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Truth truly needs to be broadcast to safeguard lives from Injury and even Death! On the Night we were collected from our Hotels and given only the minimum guidance and information given by all concerned which nearly cost our lives! The Organisation behind... More

We did the jeep tour as we try to do as much as possible where time and budget allow. Our initial intention was to do temples and jeep in one day with a driver but on our approach to Merapi we got heavy rain so decided to carry on to the next temples. Following day we decided to get a... More
