The family and myself enjoyed this place very much. Walking around after the jeep tour was fun. The bunker is also fun to go inside.

I was expecting more to see about the mountains. But what's the locals gives us is more selling what artificial things rather than preserve the nature beauty.

We didn't plan on visiting Mount Merapi, but while doing a day trip to visit the temples, our driver suggested to do a Mount Merapi Lava Tour. We had enough time to fit this unscheduled tour into our day, and I am very glad we did. Although Mount Merapi was covered by cloud for the duration of out trip, the... More

Two words, hypnotizing beauty. If you love mountains, you should climb Merapi as well. From New Selo, the hike is almost vertical for 4 hours (New Selo - Gerbang - Post 1 - Post 2 - Pasar Bubrah), some flat-ish area at Pasar Bubrah - at the foot of Merapi. We began our ascent fron NS at 1500hrs. Arrived at... More

Going here and enjoying jeep volcano tour, best for sunset if not raining guys. For jeep you should pay 350.000 rupiah.

Was not plan to go Merapi because I thought it has nothing to offer but our driver suggested that we should go. Wow! No regrets. It's so different from the volcano place that I've visited. We had a ride on a jeep which is so thrilling if u stand thru the bumpy road. Took so many pics and enjoy the... More

If you like an offroad experience riding a jeep you must try this. There's a few option you can choose whether it's a short trip (1.5hrs) up to sunrise trip (3-4hrs). Of course you will pass by a bumpy road up and down but it's fun anyway. The driver will take you to a mini museum, bunker and some famous... More

If you do not live in a country with volcanos, it is difficult to grasp the impact of an eruption. Though over the last 6 years nature has been making most of the area green again, the tour still does a good job displaying what devastation was left behind. I was lucky enough to have a tour guide from the... More

Trekking up to the summit was no easy feat. but was so glad we did it instead of choosing the easier option of going to the hilltop. The view was breathtaking and I would strongly recommend anyone who's fit enough to go for it!

The bumpy and dusty ride on the jeep adds an element of adventure. Don't miss the museum showcasing Mt. Merapi's latest "big" eruption on 5th November 2010.
