We spent a super interesting time at the National Museum.
It was our first time there as family with young kids.
We thought the best way to enjoy the expositions was by asking for an Indonesia Heritage Society’s guide. We highly recommend it. By ourselves we would have been lost since the museum itself is quite big and full of documents, arts and objects from all around the archipelago.
When we booked we asked the guide to make the tour appropriate to our kids and she took care of them with kind attention throughout all her presentation, keeping their interest high with many stories and details, taking all of us in a fascinating journey throughoutIndonesia with knowledge and curiosity. Thank you very much, Valeria.

We had wonderful two hours tour guided by Gerda. She is quite knowledgeable about Indonesian history and the museum collection (although the museum just open a rearranged exhibits). She is a well-equipped guide. I particularly loved how she added insights from her broad knowledge of other countries situation. She made effort to engage people in the group to share experiences and thoughts. Since she had probably communicated with some of her guests she was super helpful in connecting the museum collection with the guests next trip in Indonesia. It is hard to find such a museum experience in Indonesia.

This is the highlight of our tour in Jakarta. Simran is very knowledgeable and accommodating with all our questions about the history of Indonesia. I can say that this was definitely the highlight of our tour in Jakarta because we learned so much about the rich and interesting culture of our Southeast Asian neighbour. My parents are both retired teachers and we were very impressed with the museum itself and the free English tour provided by Simran.

What a delightful tour of the renovated Museum National. The collection is so large that multiple visits are required. Simran was a terrific guide who provided ample information highlighted selected pieces in the museum. I look forward to future visits with Simran and friends and family. Stephanie

Had a tour with the IHS volunteer Simran. She showed us all the highlights of the museum, from the map/languages of Indonesia, to the first piggy bank. The tour was about 1hr and you can stay longer if you wish. Our particular group had some kids and Simran was also very good with entertaining the kids with lots of patience.
The museum is definitely worth visiting, the tour can be very informative. And of course try to book Simran if you can XD

We've been hearing IHS for a long time. Several years ago, we tried to join the tour, but it wasn't a full one because we jumped in the middle of the tour. However, on 16 June 2022, we finally joined in a full tour with one of the IHS's tour guide,
Bu Gerda. Bu Gerda guided us for almost two hours. For us, this was a pleasant experience because Bu Gerda took us to explore the history of Indonesia, starting with the inscription that came from the early kingdom in the archipelago, the sculptures from classic era to the remains of the Islamic era. We didn't just get information but also got influenced by Bu Gerda's spirit.
Bu Gerda presented the stories of the selected collections in an interesting way, using analogies, sometimes dressing them with criticism, and often using humour. The way Bu Gerda told us about National Museum's collection shows that she really loves these collections. For those who have Indonesian ID cards, this is truly a slap in the face. Thank you, Bu Gerda and IHS for a great and very memorable tour.

The National Museum in Jakarta is one of the few museums I have visited in Indonesia that is actually curated and is displayed well. The tour with IHS is the best way to visit it. Our guide was Kilian who speaks perfect English - he was full of interesting information and he likes to show those items he finds most interesting which is perfect because it is a large museum and seeing everything would be tiring. My group (3 couples) enjoyed it. Good overview of Indonesia's history.

The guide (Reshmi) is really good at explaining all the things they have at the museum. I learnt a lot and had a good time as well. It wasn’t boring at all and I was intrigued the whole time. I totally recommend this to anyone who’s planning to go to the National Museum of Indonesia :).

We have a wonderful visit with my family from French. 6 Adults and 2 young teenagers. Our guide, Gerda, has been incredible with her religious and mystical stories, involving the kids and focusing on the richness of the Indonesian culture.
We spent 1 and a half hour enjoying our time in the museum and listening with huge interest our guide.
The museum is a jewel, very well renovated and with a well presented exhibition of objects.
The ihs guides are all so competent and with their own special hint (it was my 4th tour, 4th guide).
This is a must do for anyone living here or visiting Indonesia!

Dennis guides us for almost 2 hours in a trip through the history and culture of Indonesia, its religions, it’s stories.
The visit would not be the same!
The museum has an extensive collection and having someone highlighting the masterpieces was key.
Thanks so much!
