Great place to walk and shop or just sit at one of the many cafes to relax and unwind. It's a huge mall with lots of options for shopping (which doesn't mean a cheapest option). Enjoyed lunch at Remboelan and desserts at Union Deli
Like a magical land, one minute you entered a chinese architecture, then as you walk for few minute entering another hall, you will be captivated by westernised architecture... In my opinion this mall is similar to Trafford centre in Manchester.

You should convert whatever currency you have into Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) for any transactions in Indonesia, unless you go with credit/debit card - then your transaction will be electronically proceeded and automatically converted to match the IDR amount of your transaction. There are plenty of money exchange services you can easily find, especially in Jakarta - you can even find some money exchange service at the airport so you will have Indonesian Rupiah before you leave the airport. At Grand Indonesia shopping mall, I think they have a money changer office called "Dua Sisi" there, just ask for direction. You may also easily go to any ATM machine - which is abundant - at the mall with the "Visa" or "Master Card" logo on it (depends on your debit card logo) to withdraw some Indonesian Rupiah. If you withdraw IDR from ATM machine, it will be automatically converted to IDR from any currency your saving account was. I think this might also work for credit card as well.

Do you mean dialing from your mobile phone? Those number format above also work for local calls, no need to change the number format.

1) Please put all your topic about Jakarta under one thread.. 2) Amaris Thamrin City is the nearest hotel within walking distance to Grand Indonesia within your budget.. Another option is to stay along the Wahid Hasyim area, there are plenty of budget hotels there.. Cheers
