The MONAS is a vehicle free space in central Jakarta. There are plentiful paths within, and plenty of trees and other vegetation. Very popular with people exercising.

The monument is surrounded by gardens and parkland as well as eateries serving local food. We spend about an hour wandering around but being the weekend the place was packed with locals as well as tourists.

It is a beautiful monument with an amazing view! I can highly recommend it to everyone. You have to walk a bit from the entrance to the monument, but it‘s not far.

If you wait for the little transportation bus they have when you enter; it will take you directly to where you have to enter. Great place to go to see and read about Indonesian history and it's struggle for independence.
