As others have pointed out, getting into the monument is a counter-intuitive challenge (accessible via one poorly signposted underground entrance away from the monument) and it is often busy. As a result I didn't try and get in, so just wandered around the extensive grounds...More

The Icon of Jakarta City, great for picture shot taking. The top of the monument is made by 24K gold. You can go inside the monument and going to the top.

The tower is huge and there is a beautiful museum at its base. The que to go on top of this can be very long but you can definitely spend 1-2 hours in the museum which shows the history of Indonesia.

If you wait for the little transportation bus they have when you enter; it will take you directly to where you have to enter. Great place to go to see and read about Indonesian history and it's struggle for independence.
