Love this place

This is one of the best spot in Jakarta for tourism. Sunda Kelapa is the main gate of Jakarta, even now this harbour only use for domestic cargo. But the Phinisi wooden boat still wonderful and very unique. Boating at this harbour along the canal to the sea was the best experience ever in Jakarta to see another side of Jakarta as busy City.

Kelapa harbor
Jun 2019 • Friends
interesting to vidit if you are up there if you do another things there otherwise you will have too much traffic for one visit. I did rent a small boat for birdwatching which is incredible to see then take tour time to visit the harbor.

Most interesting look at shipping/fishing from ancient times
Dec 2019
Old wooden two masted phinisi schooners. Narrow planks to walk on to get from the pier to the ship. Hand loading boxes into nets moving from ship to truck or the reverse. Fish auctioning. Men living on small boats. Tradition dating back to the 17th century. Very interesting

Visiting This Old Harbor is just like "Come Back to The Past"
May 2019
Sunda Kelapa Harbor is an old harbor. Its been operated since the 16 century. The unique think is that you can find many wooden Pinisi Boat docking, loading and unload heavy materials. There is a real human power load and unload all these materials!

Pasar Ikan removed, Sunda Kelapa remains.
Oct 2019
I was first here in 1978, when it was the Pasar Ikan trip. Later, I discovered this just meant fish market. The fish market has moved nearby to the north coast leaving Sunda Kelapa harbour slightly inland, but still offering an amazing maritime spectacle with harbour trips in all manner of watercraft. The Maritime Museum is west of the harbour and rather comprehensive in terms of technology, history and social science from a maritime perspective. The area is 15 minutes walk from Mercure Batavia and takes you through an interesting local part of north Jakarta.

This picture is about all
Jul 2019 • Business
This picture pretty much depicts all that is there- a few boats. Interesting history and style to the boats- but nothing else to really see here.
