I love coming here, this is probably my sixth or seventh time here. The journey to get to anak krakatau isn't the easiest and the walk up the volcano can be tough but the views are incredible the snorkeling is beautiful. Experienced guides are always a great idea but easy enough just to walk up by yourself.

Amazing, our 10 year old son really wanted to go since he learned about it in school. We spend the night in Carita, i recommend to do that since leaving Jakarta on the same day is too much. The accomodations in Carita are basic. Our operator is great, we did prize comparison and he was cheaper than many others and... More

I had a free day on a business trip and had wanted to visit Krakatau since seeing the film many years ago. I was picked up from the hotel in Jakarta at 06:00 and got to Carita on the west coast of Java at 08.30. Before going to the boat the driver made a stop at a restaurant for coffee... More

Settled for day trip as private overnight camping cost a bomb. There were no other campers during the dates of our visit. Tour arranged by Krakatauecotourism. Professional and well arranged trip. We took a day tour from Jakarta for 2.5 hours and 4 hours return. It was a tiring journey, and adding on 1.5 hours journey from Carita beach to... More

A day trip to Gunung Anak Krakatau is well worth the effort. The volcano walk/climb is about 2 hours round trip from the humid beach forest, across volcanic ash slopes, past the lava flows, rocks and boulders from recent eruptions, up to a level below the summit. Great views from numerous places along the way. After lunch on the volcano... More

We did the krakatau volcano camping program of 2D1N through Krakatau Ecotourism which included hotel pickup, a chartered boat, guide, camping, lunch, dinner, breakfast, snorkeling gear and hotel dropoff. Hotel pickup Often the pickup and drop off are included in the package price. If not request it. If you are not an Indonesian driver don't even bother in renting a car.... More

Worth visiting if you've ever read either the 21 Balloons or Simon Winchesters fantastic book; you need to charter a boat, though.

It's a long day but really worthwhile, we organised it through Java Rhino Eco-Tour and they are brilliantly organised and hospitable. Journey time to Krakatau is quite long but it's an amazing site to see Krakatau Anak and the remnants of the mother Krakatau. Our 6 and 8 year old had no problems walking up, loved comparing all the different... More

We set off from Jakarta at around 5 am and reached Carita at about 8 am. We had arranged the trip with Pak Samsoel Hidayat, where he took care of everything from the week before, and was very assuring in making sure that everything is already carefully planned out. We had a twin engine boat going to the island, the... More

We had a 5 o'clock pickup in Jakarta. A 3 hour car journey which was good you get to see a lot on the journey. Breakfast at the marina followed by a 1.5 hour boat journey by twin engine speed boat. You land on the active son of Krakatoa. And climb up to the level plateau. This is very hard... More
