Just had a short trip to Lhasa. My travel consultant Rita was awesome to work with. She was friendly and professional, answering all my questions. Especially during Covid, she arranged everything well with no issues. Had a great tour guide as well. This is the second time I’ve used this travel agency. Totally recommend them!

I booked my tour of Lhasa and surrounding areas through Tibet Discovery and found the experience to be great! My point of contact was Tiger Wei who helped in arranging for the Tibet Permit, having this sent to our hotel ready for us, and once in Tibet, with our tour guides who took us around to see the various sights. Tibet is a place that is both beautiful and calming and the tour we did enabled us to experience this. Tiger was available to provide any support we required and the tour guides who showed us around were really knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend Tibet Discovery for people who want a hassle free experience.

There service was a total disappointment. First we booked the trip and we were given a price. The closer we got to our departure, every email was notification that the price had gone up for various reason's.
With out asking us, they booked us smoking rooms in Lasha. When we tried to change, the hotel said no, that the travel company had booked an extremely low priced room.
The first driver they gave us, was not a private driver. He was running a taxi service. We would have to wait for him to drop off his other client's. One time our friend got very ill and we had to wait 20 minutes on the curb for the driver to show up.
The guides English was really poor. He was very nice but seemed to have little experience with tours.
One night they tried to put all of us in the same room. I had paid for a single room. After a great deal of arguing they did give me my own room.
The biggest screw up they did, was we want to trek a day in the mountains. They had us trekking in a gravel mining area. It was terrible. We had to dodge the trucks. The tourist police even showed up because they wanted to know why we were there. The guide then told us we would hike to a monastery, Unfortunately he got lost and we had to turn around.
We were told that the travel agent had no experience with Tibet, they were from China proper, and that was why our itinerary was so poor. We met other people that had used Tibet discovery and they had the same issues with a bad itinerary. Ours was really mixed up and backwards. Tibet discovery actually uses a different company to do the booking, so I am not sure if they just sell their clients.
I have used a lot of travel companies all over the world and they were the worst. I would recommend you keep looking.
When I returned to the states, I contacted them about the trip, I was told they credited my account 100 dollars. They never did. A clear sign of their dishonesty. I have to say in the 100 plus reviews I have written, never has one been like this.

The discussions prior to the trip were fine. However, without my approval or prior warning, the travel consultant sent me an updated itinerary on the day I was flying to China. The new itinerary significantly changed the tour, including where I was to spend the last night in Tibet. I never agreed to this and didn’t have the opportunity to object.
I transferred the deposit based on their details, however, they have never received it.
They only confirmed that the Tibet Travel Permit was ready to pick one day before I arrived.
When I arrived at Lhasa airport, the guide was supposed to pick me up. There were many guides holding up names but mine was not among them. So I had to call the travel agency with my overseas mobile phone. My guide was waiting in his car. Not a nice start to the tour. And my flight didn’t arrive early, nor was it snowing.
Once we arrived at the hotel in Lhasa he said he wanted to discuss the itinerary. He said I shouldn’t go to Namtso Lake because the road might be closed due to bad weather. I insisted that we go and it was sunny and the roads were dry all the way. He also wanted to move the highlight of the trip, Potala Palace, from the first day to the third day. He said this was due to “the government changed the rules”. Of course on the day I was supposed to see Potala Palace, there were thousands of people visiting, so it would have been easy to get a ticket a few days in advance. But he probably forgot to do that.
Once we arrived at Potala Palace, I had to show my passport. Of course my guide forgot to mention that I had to bring along my passport. So we had to run back to my hotel to get it. We almost missed our designated time to visit Potala Palace, the highlight of the trip.
For my last night, we didn’t pre-book a hotel. So my guide recommended the Tangka Hotel in Lhasa. The room charge would be 500 yuan, however, when I checked the price online later that day, it was only 294 yuan.
And during the 5 day trip, the guide never greeted me with my name. I don’t think he even knew my name.

We found Tibet Discovery on the net almost by accident and it was the perfect solution for organizing our trip to Tibet. The agency turned out to be immediately reliable, professional, and helpful. We were entrusted with a travel consultant, Miss Vivien Li, really professional, efficient, and cooperative. She helped us to build the most suitable itinerary for the times and needs of our group, also dealing with all the issues related to the many permits needed to travel to Tibet. We reached Lhasa from Beijing by train. Also for this we have to thank Tibet Discovery, as it was quite impossible to buy train tickets on the net. Although the train does not have Western comfort standards, experience and landscapes are well worth the effort to face a journey of more than 40 hours. We never got bored. In Lhasa we were entrusted with a guide, Msr Lhakdon, and a driver, Mr Ghombo, both Tibetans, who accompanied us with great humanity, expertise and professionalism throughout the trip. They made us know those aspects of the most hidden Tibet as their uses in everyday life, their habits, their deep religiosity. To conclude, apart from a few minor problems, such as visiting a site that unfortunately turned out to be closed, I would say that the trip was perfect, an experience from an human point of view unforgettable as well. So I want to say thank you to all Tibet Discovery staff for the support they gave us with professionalism and expertise.

What an unforgettable experience!
Tibet is where you want to be if you want to disconnect from the rest of the world and immerse yourself into a new fascinating culture.
My 8 days tour in Tibet was perfectly organized by mr Wonder Wang. Mr Wang tried to satisfy every single request i had. He was very proactive, patient and always available. I always had the impression that he was always doing his best to make sure that I got the best solutions for me and my boyfriend.
The tour guide that we had, Quimei, really made the difference and added value to the trip. I was impressed by her English level, her knowledge, availability and sense of humor.
If you are thinking about Tiber, i strongly recommend you Tibet Discovery.

I had the best experience in Tibet. The most memorable time of my life. The tour guides Lhotse and Soman are the most knowledgable and experienced people in TIbet. They cared for all the people and guided each one of us to complete each climb. I personaly, definitely recommend them. Wendy, the travel advisor was very supported and quickly answered all my questions that I had about the trip. She is We visited all the places that are the most important places in Tibet including one of the Seven Wonders; The Potala Palace. The Mt. Everest and Mt. Kailash experience was unforgettable. I will definitely recommend this tour to my friends and family. I m planning to come back to Tibet. Thank you Tibet Discoveries for a wonderful experience in Tibet.

It was our first time booking a tour online and we were quite apprehensive. However, our fear was put to rest as Wonder Wang, efficiently handled it well from the first email. Replies were prompt and communicated clearly in English. The highlight of our trip, the train journey from Chengdu to Lhasa was a great experience for our family of 4. Travel permits and soft sleepers ensured there were no hitch on this journey. Tour guides assigned were proficient in English and knowledgeable. Will definitely seek out again for my next trip to Jiujaikou next year.

It was our first time in Tibet and our frst experience with a agency but it was all perfect. The communication was perfect from the fisrt inquiry and they cared about everything and answer very quick our questions. When we arrived everything was arranged. Our guide fetched us up from the train station and she was very friendly from the beginning on.
Everything was good arranged and our expectations were fulfilled. The hotels were fine for us and we can definitly recommend thes agency and service they offer. We will book there again when we ever come back to Tibet.
