Wendy and the guides and drivers that Discovery commissions are the best that I used so far in China. After two perfect trips my next destination will hopefully be Tibet with them this summer. The confidence, safety, & peace of mind/lack of annoyance they bring to travel would always be welcome but is even more welcome now.

Nanjing has a lot to offer. Definitely check out the Ming Xiaoling and Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleums. In addition, you have to visit some section of the city’s ancient walls. I went in the winter and it was nice but I imagine going in the spring or summer would be nicer. Getting to Jiuhuashan, one of China’s four sacred Buddhist mountains, from Nanjing is easy and fast with the high-speed train. Jiuhuashan is very interesting and you need about two days to see everything. Although, be ready to climb a lot of steps! My travel agent Wendy is super helpful and informative and always puts together a great tour. She has helped me arrange several tours throughout China. In addition, my guides, Lulu in Nanjing and Jessie in Chizhou, were very kind and knowledgeable.

Traveling in Tibet is a unique and incredible experience. Such an amazing place with so much history, culture, and incredible scenery. I worked with Leo to set up my tour and he is the best! He has helped me with other tours around China and they have all been the best experiences! He set me up with an amazing guide in Tibet since foreigners must have a tour guide. My guide had so much knowledge about Tibetan culture and history and I learned so much from him. He was so kind and made my journey so easy and smooth as Tibet can be a more difficult place to navigate. I just mostly sat back and enjoyed the scenery. I was also set up with kindest driver. Driving the roads towards Mt Everest is not easy and I was very impressed with my driver and felt very safe on those windy bumpy mountain roads. Tibet was an incredible experience one I will never forget!

We used Tibet Discovery to organise a trip to Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan. Unfortunately Tibet was still closed but the agency were extremely helpful in changing our itinerary and working with an agent in Nepal to extend our time there. Excellent clinet service and communication at all stages. We will definitely use TD when Tibet opens to tourism.

We were two families with small children and had an amazing trip with Tibet Discovery. Our travel consultant Rita was very helpful and remained in touch throughout the trip. Special word of appreciation for our guide ‘Jampa Tenzin’ who was super friendly and knowledgeable. Our itinerary included Lhasa, Shigatse, Everest base camp and Nyingchi. The scenery was out of this world and Tibet discovery ensured that all small details and logistics were taken care of.

My trip was fantastic! We went over Christmas, so being cold was to be expected. Tracy went above and beyond to ensure our hotel rooms were warm enough and we had everything we needed. She checked in on us and even checked our flights leaving Lhasa to ensure we'd have no problem getting to our next destination (covid life). Our tour guide, went above and beyond too. We had to jump through hoops with covid testing and many checkpoints. He was great about it all. Our guide explained everything so we understood. That was the annoying covid regulations part. The bulk of the trip was amazing sights and experiences!! Our guide figured out our group dynamics right away. He let us do our thing with pictures, then when we were all pictured out, he'd explain what we were looking at. I would highly recommend this tour company and Tracy as your agent!
For reference, my friend and I took the train from Chongqing. 36hrs, but well worth it. It's 2 nights and a day basically. You get to see a lot, but it also helps with the altitude. The trains are NOT pressurized as people might rumor. I felt it trying to sleep the 2nd night when we were climbing to 5,000m+ before reaching Lhasa. Altitude did not bother me too much on tge trip, but it seemed headaches would set in a little at night.
At Basecamp it was a strong headache. Having a headache is very much worth it, so stock up on oxygen before you hit Shigatse and prepare your body. Oh! And if you get car sick, bring your meds! The roads to Basecamp are pretty much switchbacks over 3 passes. But again, it's worth it😄

Shandong Province has some nice locations to offer tourists. Jinan is a cute, green city with many natural springs. Taishan is a sacred Taoist mountain. and well worth a visit. However, unless you are really fit, do not try to climb thousands of steps. Take a bus halfway up the mountain and then take a cable car to the top. Lastly, Qufu, the hometown of Confucius, is an ancient city with a lot to see. My travel agent Wendy and tour guide Bruce were great; you really cannot be disappointed.

This is the second year that we have used Tibet Discovery as our travel agent. Last year we went to Nepal & Bhutan, helped by Wonder (Tibet was still closed due to Covid). This year Wonder patiently arranged a 2 week tailored tour of Tibet for just the 2 of us, with private guide and driver. Communication and flexibility shown by Wonder and his colleagues was outstanding. We saw everything that was on our list including the unforgettable 3-day Mt Kailash kora, where you get to meet the real Tibetans - nomads, pilgrims. An absolutely stunning trip which was faultless in the organisation by TD/Wonder. Hotels were great; transport was great; itinerary was perfect. We felt we had fantastic value for money and the best service possible. I would DEFINITELY use Tibet Discovery again. Thank you TD & Wonder!

Rosalyn organized a great trip for us to Lhasa. Especially as these times are difficult with permit, Covid Test and local requirements, she helped us to understand each step well and always keep us up to date. We could always contact her when things weren’t clear and she helped us having a great exploration of Lhasa.
