We have travelled to Bhutan with tibet international and have never been disappointed. The service they give is second to none - they think of every detail. We have carried out charity work, trekked, stayed in retreats and done lots of sightseeing. Every trip has been truly amazing.

When I initially booked this tour I was anxious dealing with a person across the world that I didn’t know but my travel agent Sudarsha was so helpful and available anytime I had questions. He was open and clear about the itinerary along with what to expect. The trip itself worked out like clockwork as we kept up with the promised schedule and visited all monasteries listed on the program. Our guide was exetremly knowledgeable and helpful throughout our journey as well. The tour lived up to my expectations and more from a spiritual perspective having been able to engage with a number of monks who also blessed my prayer beeds. All in all Tibet International Travel & tours provided a great service at the right price.

We paid to join this group tour from Kathmandu to Lhasa by road, then flying back to Kathmandu.
The tour is great, and we just about got what we paid for - but “the company” failed us twice once we were in China (they didn’t book the promised number of bedrooms, and they refused to provide a transfer to both airport and train station in Lhasa – despite that some group members were flying on, and some were going on by train), and were very unhelpful in resolving the issues once we were in China.
And the company in Kathmandu gave us bad/wrong advice about a couple of things…..not least telling us that EBC was closed, the road to EBC/monastery was terrible, and we couldn’t do the trip to EBC or the monastery nearby (when we were in Tibet, our guide told us EBC was open and it would have been very easy to get to – the road has been paved and is now fine).

There were 6 people planning to join our group – 2 married couples, and 2 single travelers – but 1 of the single travelers was denied a visa, so we were only 5 on the tour.
Both married couples had checked beforehand, and been assured, that they would have a double room with private bathroom at all hotels – no sharing.
But when we arrived in China on the first night, our guide told us that “the company” had only reserved 2 rooms at all the hotels – so the single girl would have to share with one of us couples……unless she paid an extra single room supplement at each hotel.
We all were shocked, but at the end of the first day we felt we had no option – our guide wasn’t offering to try and talk to “the company” about this on our behalf, and we felt stranded. So the single girl shared with one of the married couples – sleeping on a 3rd “bed” crammed into the hotel room…..it was a wooden board with sheets and a blanket.
The next day we pressed our guide a bit more, but he just told us that “the company” had made this decision and he couldn’t do anything about it……despite that we’d been told the couples would have private rooms. The company just decided to save some money and only book 2 rooms for us – and we were stuck!
When we got to our hotel on day 2, we told our guide that we were refusing to check-in until he helped us contact “the company” and get this resolved. We showed him our paperwork that said we had twin-sharing rooms, and that we were not prepared to have 2 rooms again between 5 of us. After many calls back and forth between us and the Lhasa company (who blamed the Kathmandu company for everything) and sending copies of our papers/receipts, and over an hour later, “the company” relented and told the hotel we could have 3 rooms…..and we got 3 rooms for the rest of the week.
The Lhasa company never apologized for this – and the Kathmandu company have kept asking us to understand their position/hardship, and that they didn’t make much money out of us. They’ve promised that they’ll never do this again, but to date they’ve done nothing by way of compensating us for the inconvenience, or giving back to us the money that they tried to save by booking 2 rooms instead of 3.

We complained strongly to the company in Lhasa that they were refusing to take one couple to the train station and the other 3 to the airport……despite that we were all promised by the Kathmandu company we’d be taken to whichever place we needed to go. Once again, the guide was unable to persuade the Lhasa company to budge on this issue, and they even cut the phone line when we tried to talk to them about it.
The couple taking the train in the evening resigned themselves to having to be dropped at the train station early in the morning when the other 3 were being taken to the airport.
Only after making contact with the Kathmandu company by email did we get word on the day of departure as we were checking out that they would honour their promise to provide a transfer to both airport and train station – but by then it was kind-of too late as we were all checking out.

“The company” in Lhasa have not once contacted us to apologise for their terrible treatment of us once in China – they just blamed everything on the Kathmandu company and said they couldn’t make any changes to what they’d been told by Kathmandu. In turn, with blocked Internet in most places in China, we couldn’t contact the Kathmandu company ourselves by Facebook, WhatsApp, gmail or phone – we were stuck.
We found this treatment of ‘valued customers’ to be appalling, and strongly recommend that the Kathmandu and Lhasa companies both work together to HELP their customers once they’re in China, instead of cheating them out of what they’ve paid for and been promised.

In summary – the trip was amazing – the Tibet scenery, Lhasa sightseeing……it was all amazing. The hotels were mostly OK, and the transport worked out OK (apart from the fact that the usual driver in Kathmandu couldn’t be woken up on the day of departure, so they had to scramble to find a new driver and vehicle at 6am on the Saturday morning!)
But “the company” had significant shortcomings, and we’d encourage anyone tempted to use this company to make absolutely sure that you know what you’re paying for and what you’re entitled to…..and don’t let them cheat you out of a private room for 2 which is what you pay for.

I did my Bhutan and also Tibet tour with Tibet International Travels & Tours. I was very satisfied with their service. Especially for Bhutan they arranged a great guide for me. Who really had a lot of knowledge about Bhutan and he was very nice and helpful too. Also the quality of hotels where we stayed was very high and transportation comfortable and safe. Communication with this agency is great. They really do everything to make their customers happy and satisfied. And their prices are also excellent compared to other agencies. I am very happy that I choosed Tibet International Travels & Tours for my Tibet and Bhutan tours. Thank you so much for your perfect service.
