This was a nice place to wander around in the evening. It is touristy but it has atmosphere. We didn't go into the museums and the temple due to lack of time. The lower end restaurants did not look appealing at all, but we went to a very nice Huaiyang restaurant with red lanterns beside a bridge (sorry, can't remember the name). The food was fantastic and the staff were very patient when WeChat Pay failed to read the menu.

We walked the around both during the day and during the evening. I agree with others that the evening is best. It's surprising (at least to me) that there are not that many places to eat canal side. The restaurant across from the boat ticket office features traditional Nanjing dishes.

This tourist shopping/eating area that surrounds the Fuzi Temple (the Confucious Temple) is pretty dire, but at night, when it's all lit up and the locals are out in force for a wander, it does transform into something well worth exploring. The shops are designed for tourists, as is all the awful fast food, but you can take a short river cruise in a neon lit boat, as well as view the temple itself.

A boat trip on the river after dark is really worth doing. The photograph says it all. There are also many restauarants in the area direct on the river banks which makes for interesting viewing as the tourist bots pass by.

Very crowded and lively. A street of food and items for tourists to see and buy. 1 out of 3 stalls will be selling salted duck for you to bring back. Taking a cab from there is a headache, so I suggest you to take a metro back to your hotel instead of waiting for cab. I waited for an hour and end up figuring my way to the metro instead.

A lot of nice food, popular food salted duck. River cruise is nice scenery at night. Long queues expected. Cleanliness not so good. Saliva spitting common over there.

We like this place to spend time. The place truly attractive and beautiful. You may either see shops or Cafe to have tea or coffee. There are stairs where you can go close to the river, but sadly no any Cafe or restaurant facing the river to its view, there's space where there could be open air seats for having coffee, unfortunately nothing.
