This museum opened in 2013 and sits in an architecturally distinct building in a large green site which includes a hotel. So it wasn’t an unpleasant place to visit (in fact two free range alpacas added to the appeal), and if that is all you want then add 2 stars to this review.
The museum itself though is woeful. Our guide, an artist herself, was lovely, and they clearly have great hopes for the space. But in all honesty the art - such as there was - is high school student art, surrounded by acres of empty space. The icing on the cake for me was an empty room in which one stood whilst listening to the amplified sound of water being poured into a container on the floor above. You can literally get the same effect by standing in any public toilet in the world. Perhaps the absence of art is itself art, in which case I freely admit that this was well over my head.....
Not for me, but I wish them luck. I got in free as part of a group, and we found the whole thing quite funny; not sure I would feel the same way if I had travelled a long way and paid to get in
