My friend and I visited Hong Kong back in 2018 and this walking tour was one of the highlights of our trip. I am very grateful for such an amazing opportunity to get to see so many interesting sights in one day. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is on a tight budget and visits this city for the first time.

Ciao a tutti! Just wrapped up the Hong Kong Free Walking Tour, and it was magnifico! Five stars all the way, and let me tell you, our guide Zoe was an absolute gem.
Zoe’s knowledge of Hong Kong's history and culture was like a treasure trove. From the get-go at the meeting point, her passion for the city was infectious. And let me tell you, her English? Perfetto!
What really made the tour shine was Zoe’s knack for mixing old stories and new anecdotes. We learned about the city's roots, wandered through famous spots, and even savored some local street eats. Zoe’s storytelling skills? A+.
The cherry on top? A group picture at the end. Total win. It's the perfect keepsake from a memorable day.
So, amici, if you're headed to Hong Kong, do yourself a favor and book the Hong Kong Free Walking Tour. And if you land Zoe as your guide, you've hit the jackpot! Grazie mille, Zoe, and the entire crew. Can't wait for round two!

Thank you so much for three excellent tours. You really showed a great insight to Hong Kong with your knowledge, humor and patience. Highly recommended. I did all three of the free tours, pretty much tells you my opinion of them!

We were in Hong Kong for a few days and were not sure what to do. We decided to do the Hong Kong Island Walking Tour, and met Matthew at 2.00pm. There were 8 in our group - including 4 of us. We saw a side to Hong Kong that we would have never seen if we had wandered around by ourselves. Matthew was a great guide who was very informative along the way. We would highly recommend this tour and would have done another one if we had time.

This walking tour actually was one of the highlights of my stay in Hong Kong. It was an eye opener and helped you to understand what it is like to be a resident in Hong Kong and showed the real side Hong Kong.
It was really good learning about some of the traditions, customs and type of things that HK locals particularly like doing. Was great to see the residencies, various sights and different spots.
Matthew is a welcoming, down-to-earth, dedicated and friendly host.

I did the Hong Kong island tour then the TST tour. Both were good and Matthew was the guide of both. He is entertaining and informative. Bonus was I made some new friends to hangout with on my trip in Hong Kong so if you are alone go to one of these enjoyable tours

First of all, I have been to many free walking tours across Europe, US, and Australia, so I know how things work and what to expect. I have never been to this bad tour in my entire life and that probably includes the next 50 years or so. Quite frankly, this is insulting to visitors who sign up and show up.
This guide has been in Hong Kong for barely over a month, which is fine, as long as he could provide a quality tour. But oh no...Our guide clearly didn’t know about Hong Kong at all. We asked him about Hong Kong’s treaty with the British and its return to China. I should have known that this was going to be bad at the beginning when our guide didn’t know who Margaret Thatcher was. This kid needs to study more before he calls himself a guide.
The itineraries were random. I don’t remember signing up for eatery tours. He took us to food vendors and restaurants when we clearly stated that we already ate. He tried to sell hard all these food items which raises a question if this company gets any commissions. He took us to a mall to walk around. Yeah, thanks a lot, I could have done it myself. We walked by a street where there were old trees. The guide said: “There are many romantic scenes are shot here because the trees are old”. Wow.....incredible. Then he took us to another mall where the tour ended. There was no rationale provided whatsoever why we were there and what this building meant. It was just a random guy walking around with us and things got very uncomfortable.
I was courteous enough to stay for the whole 2.5 hours. This guy was still audacious enough to ask for tips.
Here is my advice to this company: Learn. Train your guides before offering your services. I was embarrassed FOR the guide.

Great tour of TST - showing local food culture, city sights and history and not the least personal discussions on how it was to be a student in Hong Kong and exchanging experiences on life in HK, China, US and Denmark - great company for a lone business traveler- and as a bonus I was the only one on the tour and it was still held :-)

We emailed a few days ago, to say we would be joining this tour yesterday, spent a lot of time and effort to get there, only to have them not show. No notification either by email or on website or Facebook page. There were other people waiting also. When you have limited time, you don’t need this. Choose someone more reliable.

I went to this tour last week when I was in Kowloon, I stayed about 45 minutes, when the tour guide Zoi only showed uns the clock tower and spent all the time in anti Chinese propaganda, talking about Chinese immigrants to Hong Kong and unapropriated things about Chinese immigrants everywhere. I’ve been to China myself and also did tours in Beijing which were much more professional and the people were very good so I could not stand listening to the tour guide , there were tourists from the US who enjoyed the tour very much with negative comments for Chinese people, so in 45 minutes we only stranded in front of the clock tower and had to listen to all horrible things the people were talking against the Chinese people and I left. I regret for the time I lost there. I was expecting to hear something about Kawloon or Hong Kong and not how bad and lazy Chinese people are, which is not true. In my opinion Zoi, who is from Hong Kong was really stupid and lazy, because she could not do properly here job and spoiled the tour,

It depends on your budget. We usually use 3 star hotels because they are clean and comfortable. We like to stay near the kowloon in the tsim Sha Tsui or Jordan area. We like Travelodge Kowloon, Largos, Best Western Grand hotel. They are about
$100US per night and you can walk everywhere or take the MTR underground. To get to these hotels, take the A21 airport bus, its only 33HKD. Do not miss the star ferry ride, so cheap and so fun to cross the harbor in Hong Kong, and take advantage of the free walking tours. Do not miss Manakamana Nepali Restaurant is a top Indian restaurant in the walking area of the hotels mentioned above. Have a great time.

Does anybody know the route and or sights included in the Kowloon tour, so I can plan my overall itinerary? I've contacted them twice by email, and I haven't gotten a response at all.

I believe they go around the tsim sha tsui area near the clock tower and star ferry water front and finish around the 1881 Heritage building.

Hi, I booked a couple but was wondering if I could leave early as I'm trying to fit you guys in between conference events?

It's a free tour, I think you just tell the tour guide that you need to leave early.

I am interested in the Hiking and Fisherman's island tour. My question is about the hiking portion - how much of this tour is hiking and where do you hike? My boyfriend and I were looking to do the Dragonback trail, and this doesn't sound like the same area - though it does sound interesting. Thanks!

Hi there! Thanks for your interest and inquiry! the hiking portion is around 1/3 of the tour which is around 1 hour.this is not the same as Dragonback trail, while Dragonback is very popular and easy to go by your own. in this Lamma Island tour, we will go there by boat and then hiking, you will also have the chance to have a close touch with the local marine life, following a seafood meal (optional)! Please check out our website to find out more information :)

The guides should definitely be tipped if they are good, hich ours was, tho there is no pressure. But that is how they make their money. I think we averaged about $20 - $25 per couple. There were about 10 on the tour

I was with my family and did this tour last day of my visit. It was pretty informative and kids enjoyed it
She took us to inside markets within the tsim sha tsui area.
You can sign up on their website hkfreewalk and go from there. They are pretty good at answering your emails and with further instructions.
