Our family of 5 joined Yan for a food tour of Hong Kong's Chinatown and were very pleased. We were the only guests on the tour and she was able to explain everything that we were eating in depth and truly allow us to get a behind the scenes view of Chinatown and everything it has to offer. The markets are very different and if you don't have an adventurous spirit, this may not be the best choice for you. We visited markets that the locals shop in and went to local food establishments for the tastings. We ate snake soup, fresh tofu (not at all what you are used to), lemon tarts, dim sum, fish balls, hot teas, goose, pork buns, some sweets and a few others. We certainly left with full stomachs. Our guide was a local and gave us a great glimpse of what it is like living in Hong Kong. We did walk quite a bit as well. Definitely recommend this company. They were quick to respond to questions via email and made the process very easy. Thanks Yan!

The food ranged from interesting to exceptional - a real cultural experience for our Western pallets. The dai pai dongs very authentic and places we wouldn't have dared to visit by ourselves; that is before this tour! Visiting the wet market an interesting experience by itself - nearly turning me into a vegetarian. Nearly, but not quite... Our guide was luckily sensitive to our queasiness and spared us the worse of the worse. All and all a wonderful experience. The dim sum was fantastic!

We took the tour with our two teenagers. Yan is a great guide and full on information about Hong Kong life. The tour takes you to specialist food outlets as well as local markets. Some of the sites and tastes are not for the squeamish but most of the food is delicious although there's no pressure to eat anything you're not comfortable with. This is a fantastic way to see the city and get a sense of local life.

Right off the bat I could tell this food tour was unlike the rest. After meeting our hosts we were handed a grab bag of helpful items for a food tour - wet naps, plastic gloves, and plenty of space for leftovers. This was a food tour first for me and a great idea.
We sampled several great dishes throughout the day and the hosts were happy to explain and let us try what peaked our interest outside of what was on the stops. Favourites were a shop specializing in goose and getting educated in dim sum.
What made the tour really great was the insight behind what makes Hong Kong dishes so great. We toured a couple local markets and even took a ride on the historic Hong Kong Island tram line. All in all a great day. Make sure you come hungry!

We travel a fair bit and always include a foodie tour when we do so as quite often we miss out on the great places to eat but also what to eat. We did our foodie tour today and it was superb. We trialled ate goose, snake, egg tarts, dim sum and herbal teas to name a few. Our guide was knowledgeable keen to show us Mongkok and we spent a stack of time learning about the wet markets. Thank you we will be back next time we are in Hong Kong. We don't hesitate giving a great review!

It’s very rare to have a tour company run a tour when you are the only guest, but due to others last minute cancellations, that was the case today. I am so happy that they did! The meeting spot was easy to get to and find which is always a plus for me.
I had a great time today with William. He was very easy to talk to and shared with me not only his love of food but his passion for Chinese medicine. William was gracious, kind and just a delite to be around. He led me through the wet market pointing out many interesting things and sharing what they are used for and how they are prepared. I never would have tried the restaurants we stopped in on my own or tried some of the foods I did, had it not been for him. I can honestly say I enjoyed everything I tried today. There was roast goose with rice, custard and coconut tarts, cold tofu with brown sugar, snake soup, 3 kinds of dim sum, sweet and sour plum juice plus a delicious banana treat whose name I am blanking on. I left the tour feeling pleasantly full and happy. This tour was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Thank you malakialj, it was a delight having you on our tour. William is a great guide. He is a true local and being a retired academic is very knowledgeable especially when it comes to Chinese medicine. We love that you enjoyed all the tastings. Thank you for booking directly through our website, and we hope to see you on our Hong Kong Island or Sham Shui Po tours next time you are in Hong Kong.

We have just done the Kowloon food tour with Yan and shared the experience with a great group of people. Yan was a friendly, bubbly, enthusiastic and inclusive guide who drew the whole group into the experience - not always an easy thing to achieve. Being born and bred in Hong Kong, she was able to convey experiences as a local, including markets and way of life and most importantly (!), we enjoyed so many foods during this tour, most of which we wouldn't have tried ourselves, including the delicious snake soup. As others have said, there's no need for lunch or dinner! Highly recommended!

We had a great time on this food tour. It turns out, no one else had signed up for our day/time so we had a very personal tour. Our tour guide was Yan and she was wonderful. Very accommodating as I was pregnant at the time and my husband was carrying our 1.5 year old. She took us to some wonderful restaurants and street food vendors. We had snake soup, goose, egg tarts, and lots of other yummy foods. Honestly, it was so much food that we should have paced ourselves better. We were absolutely stuffed at the end! Wear good walking shoes because the tour was about 4.5 hours long and it's all walking. And don't forget your camera! Lots of interesting people, food and culture to take pictures of.

Yan our guide was fantastic. Excellent English and her knowledge of the history and culture of the area was a bonus. The local people love her, was such a fun tour. We tasted delicious and strange foods we would never have ordered without her recommendation. Thanks Yan!

I can't recommend the Eating Adventures food tours strongly enough. We took the Hong Kong (Kowloon) food tour yesterday. Our guide, Yan, a native of HK, was a great source of information about HK in general and about its food culture specifically. We got to try so many interesting and delicious foods that we would not have been able to find on our own. Yan's local connections allowed us to meet the owners of little neighborhood eateries where traditional foods are lovingly prepared. Our photos from the tour look like ones you hope to always take on trips, but don't always manage- full of color, full of life, like something out of a professional tour book. We will definitely go back to some of the places we visited on the tour to sample some more of the foods that we didn't have time for. Given that HK is justifiably famous for its incredible variety of foods, these tours provide a way for all visitors to gain local knowledge in a very short time. Your taste buds will be pleasantly surprised by the variety of tastes and textures - my 11 year old son and I both loved the snake soup - we tried it for the sake of novelty but it turned out to be delicious! Given the limited amount of time that most of us visitors have in HK you owe it to yourself to go on an Eating Adventures food tour!

Hi Tardis_Mom,
Thank you for the fantastic review, and the personal note that you sent us. We have worked hard to create an interesting tour that will give guests a taste of both the local life and food. It is always rewarding to have customers that appreciate this. BTW, snake soup is also my favourite!
It was a pleasure having your family on the tour.

I suggest you contact the vendor directly. I believe they could adjust to your dietary requirements. However, not sure that the 5 year old would find this too interesting.
