The guide provided so much Information in details with some photo, maps for supporting. That make the tour more interesting. Especially when describing the history that happened in the site under our feet, just like we are experience in the history. It's impressing.

We had a lovely afternoon today with Celeste and organised behind the scenes by Cherrie. Everything was exactly as described, very well organised and with our host sharing many stories of her family's long history in the area.

We went to 2 trips:
1. The Seaside stories introduces Shau Kei Wan, including a junk ride (special joy for kids), and ends up in a beautiful park with two children playgrounds and funny kids activities.
2. The Origin of the Fragrant Harbour took us to a very pleasant trail on the Peak, a bit far from the tourist masses, and we also went to Pock Fu Lam village - I was always interested in how do these places called "village" in Hongkong look like.
The trips were very informative, the guides love what they are doing, they can tell tales even about the last little corners of remote places. Beautiful view of Hongkong from different angles with refreshments, tasty dim-sum, extrem-friendly tour guides, a lot of old photos to compare the past with the present - I can only recommend these trips.

My wife and toured for two days with Ho Ho Go, one on Hong Kong Island and the other in Kowloon, with two different guides, both excellent.

We came to Hong Kong with three days available for guided touring and an ambition to learn a great deal about history, culture, and present-day life. (We were willing and able to explore the food and nightlife on our own.) We were put in touch with Ho Ho Go through a knowledgeable travel professional, who recommended them based on this spec.

Once in contact, Ho Ho Go was more than willing to discuss options and itineraries, and ended up proposing plans to us that matched our priorities beautifully. Each of our guides knew a great deal and was responsive to our wide-ranging questions. And each was a pleasure to be with, knowledgeable, smart, warm--important when two of you are spending an entire day alone with one guide.

I won't go into the specific itineraries, since they reflected our particular interests--I will say that we could not have asked for better with respect to the approach (e.g. mix of public transportation and walking), pace, depth, breadth, and openness to discuss issues of some political sensitivity.

We did not experience Ho Ho Go's group tours, but we would certainly recommend anyone wishing to learn more than the superficial about Hong Kong will do very will with this organization.

I picked the Yau Ma Tei 2 hour tour during my short business trip in Hong Kong as I could not afford sufficient time to explore the city. The guide just like a friend in Hong Kong, shared a bunch of stories at every street corner. These stories were local, very impressive. We were also treated at a vintage restaurant and was taught some local greetings by the waiter. Given the context of this intensive tour, It is value for money and highly recommended.

About two years ago I took my father to Hong Kong because he had always wanted to go there. I love to travel but Asia was never high on my destination list. One of my biggest concerns was the language and culture barrier so I knew I needed a good tour guide to really experience the true Hong Kong. I took a chance on Ho Ho Go, a little concerned that I had to email first to even get an idea of the cost but I need not have worried.

Ho Ho Go's owner and her husband (who drove) were the most thoughtful, professional and thorough guides I have ever had. She thought of everything we might need to be safe and comfortable on a full day of touring. They picked us up at our hotel, had thoughtful supplies (water bottles, kleenex, snacks, disinfectant wipes, etc.) and even had headsets to use to ensure we could always hear her well.

They know their Cantonese history and got us into places we never would have been able to see (or even know about) on our own. They are true locals so you can experience the city and the surrounding areas fully while making their foreign guests feel at ease. I would absolutely use Ho Ho Go again the next time I go back to Hong Kong. They were so good that I am now excited to visit other Asian destinations and can't wait to bring my sons to Hong Kong. We will be using Ho Ho Go again, for sure.

I don't think it's offered anymore but we took the Fairy Tale Lane all day tour. We caught them at a transition time in their certification for more clearance, if I remember correctly, so Bonnie gave us a great deal. Because not having a price list made me nervous to email them when I was looking for a guide, I'll advise here what I was charged and hope it doesn't hurt their profit - just please be warned that this tour was at least 4 years ago (TripAdvisor is not letting me select the correct date so I used as far back as they allow) and at a discount due to a specific situation at the time. We paid HK $2600 (HK $1300 per guest) with a HK $400 discount and no surcharge (Hong Kong dollars, not USD). Whatever their rates are right now, I can confidently tell you they are worth it and very reasonable.

I feel bad it took me so long to finally post a review, but they were so good I was determined to take the time to give them their proper due with an excellent review. They are small tour company but that makes for an intimate and thorough experience. They are exceedingly professional, they are highly responsive to emails and their receipts have all their official credentials and license info listed. They even follow-up to make sure you were happy with their service.

I can't say enough about Ho Ho Go other than I was a little nervous to even go to Hong Kong & rural China but they were so great they changed that. I would book with them again in a heartbeat - and will. Hope this helps!

My husband and I did this tour and absolutely loved it. The guide was so well informed and highlighted so many details. From the smallest to the obvious ones. It is a must, as we learnt so much and not the kind of thing you could ever do with a guidebook instead of a tour guide

I was highly recommended by a good friend to try this travel agency and Cultural Background was the first tour (won't be the last!) I joined.

I was picked up together with other 2 participants from the Yau Ma Tei MTR station on time and we were then in for a cultural treat - the tour covered quite a few streets in the area, where you could still find a considerable amount of unique, traditional family-owned businesses. We were also taken to the wholesale fruit market and walked through some back alleys that normally we might be too chicken to do ourselves. There were so many stories to be shared by the guide Ling and places to be checked out nearby as well. Ling is extremely knowledgeable and seems to know the area like the back of her hand. We then visited a 'cha chaan tang' (a local eatery), where we sampled a few popular snacks including Hong Kong-style Milk Tea, French Toast, etc. The tour finished at the Tin Hau Temple Complex and we went into almost each of the sections that have been subdivided for different deities or functions.

The tour was well-thought-out, jam-packed with interesting spots and yet very well-paced. It was informative but Ling didn't bombard us with overwhelming details. I didnt want to give away the itinerary too much in this review because I feel it is only fair for you to experience the tour first-hand. Having said that, I strongly believe you will not disappoint.

If it is not my new colleagues Liz (from Australia) and Sha fr Malaysia), I would not join this tour as a local which was a true surprise !! Liz and Sha arrived a couple weeks ago and asked me any fun thing to explore in Hong Kong. Honestly, as I was born here, i thought I knew all the places until I read about hohogo. I contacted ling and quickly she came up a tour to Kowloon Walled city for me and my fellow expatriates team mates. To start the tour, Ling gave us a few headsets so we can all hear her clearly. We set off from Kowloon Walled City Park (which was behind the mall, now i know) and heard so much about its history !! My expat colleagues were amazed by the story too. On top of that, we sneaked into Tokwawan - those small alley, small buildings, niche local food store etc. At the end of the tour she suggested us to take a ferry (not the same style as Star ferry) instead of MTR to North Point. We arrived a great "Daipaidong" near the pier and taste some very delicious local dishes !! Ling really knows HK inside out. Without her professional knowledge, we could not make so much in a day. If you go, definitely take the snack beef cake !!
