The Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC) is a large scale social project in Shek Kep Mei whereby a 9 storey factory estate was restored and repurposed into a multi-disciplinary arts centre, similar but much larger in scale to what can be found at the Cattle Depot Artist Village at Ma Tau Kok.
For the most part the JCCAC was closed down during the pandemic but there have been far more events, courses and the likes taking place there in recent months as Hong Kong has reopened its public and government run facilities around the city.
It takes some research to find activities and studios here suitable and convenient for tourists to visit and take part in. You can browse through the JCCAC website if interested. What visitors can do that is accessible are the coffee shop called Cafe Golden and the delightful Heritage Tea House. These are open daily.
JCCAC is located on Pak Tin Street and is around an 8-10 minute walk from the Shek Kip Mei MTR Station.

The Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre is a repurposed public factory estate that suitably retains its former charm and provide a lot of great opportunities for photographers to flex their creative muscles.

JCCAC was located at the middle of city. It is one of the most active and largest art center in Hong Kong. The location was very convenient and close to MTR station. There were various selections of exhibition there and sometimes packed with local and foreign visitors. You can have a walk there at the weekend market(depends on the arrangement, may not be available). You can also enjoy the best Hong Kong history and the life styles of the locals there. Various food stores, coffee shops, restaurants and HK style stuff around the place. Highly recommended tourists to visit there for real HK.

Very easy to reach from Shek Kip Mei MTR Station: get out at exit C, and then just follow the road until you get to a building that says "JCCAC" (there are several signs pointing to it). I give it a 5/5 because I think this place deserves to be more visited, especially if you're into art. It's a building full of little ateliers / exhibition spaces for local artists, and most of them were closed when I visited, but I think this could change if more people would come to make the place more lively. It was still very interesting to see the corridors, as there were interesting art pieces here and there. I especially recommend to visit the space from CCCD (Centre for Community Cultural Development) on the second floor, where a lovely lady welcomed me and explained (in English) about the wonderful things they are doing for the community with art projects.

Worth visiting. A former Shek Kip Mei Factory Estate was built in 1977 which was transformed into a creative arts centre in 2008, providing a total of 124 studio units (around 24 square metres per unit) for the local artists to pursue their art and creative work, mainly visual and performing arts. The interior of the centre keeps the architectural features of old garment factories. Open to the public. Recommend to make an appointment with the artist(s) in advance if you are interested to visit their individual art studio. Check the map first as it's not easy to find the place.

First, it might be a bit hard to find this place, but when you get there, it is lovely!
The art centre is located in a former public housing.
There are exhibition areas, independent art studios and cafes.

You have to know where you're going in order to get there. The signage is poor.
Walk through the underpassUn Chau Street in Sham Shui Po and turn left after you surface. Walk up the hill and the building is on your right.
I wish they advertise this place more as it's a culturally important building ina culturally important district.
Arty stuff is good. Handicarfts abound. Have fun.

This place is probably the dream place for local artists who cannot afford high rents. It is spread out on around 7 floors, with studios and art /photography shops offering exhibitions and workshops regularly to the public.
The JCCAC hosts monthly art fairs selling crafts etc on weekends...
I just think that it is a bit small for such a culturally rich place and they dan make the whole place a bit more cohesive to make it seem more organised.

Went a saturday afternoon because it was close to where we're staying. it's easy enough to find when you exit the MTR, but the place itself was empty. Apparently there are a bunch of art studios, but 95% of them were closed. The roof terrace provided a bit of a view, but nothing out of this world.
From the roof we noticed the hill right behind the JCCAC that was a bit higher and figured we would have a better vantage point. Drinking a beer while watching the sun set over the city would have been nice.
