This museum is aimed at ordinary folks and school kids - not railway engineers, It is small and can be easily covered in less than 45 minutes; so do not plan your whole day around it. I visited with low expectations and was impressed with...More

I like the entrance architecture, very authentic. Got some knowledge about how railway developed and growing in HK. Very far from the place I live, and quite walking far from the station, especially when I bring my kid. But we took very great photos afterall.

The museum consists of a few carriages and engines but not much else. Take a quick look if you are in the area.

This museum is kind of located at a hidden place of Tai Po old Town. Most importantly, entrance fee is free of charge. You can find the history of Hong Kong railway here and the oldest steam train located there. It's a pretty good site...More

Hidden away, it's nice to be in an area of Hong Kong that hasn't been modernised. It'd been a decade since I was last here and it's just as a I remember. Great place to come for a little history and heritage.

It's open air and its free. A number of static display carriages and one restored locomotive as well as some very interesting and multilingual information boards and photos. Well signposted from the surrounding streets otherwise you would miss it.
