I followed the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail and by far spent the most time at the Tang Chung Ling Ancestral Hall. It was interesting to read up on the history of the Tang Clan that inhibits the local area. Looking around the exterior really gives you an idea of how influential they were back in the 16th century. The wood cravings and the design of the roof were really something to look at considering the time it was built and all hand carved. So, if you are in Hong Kong looking for something a bit different to do and have a mild interest in history then this is definitely the place for you.

The Tang Chung Ancestral Hall is the most interesting of the attractions that form the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail in Fanling. This a registered historical monument in Hong Kong and was built in the early 16th century in memory to the Tang Chung-ling ancestors. Opening Hours are 9am to 1pm and 2-5pm daily. This historical building has an attractive exterior, with decorative plaster, motifs and auspicious animals decorating the facade, roof and entrance area to the ancestral hall. This makes for nice sightseeing if you enjoy viewing historic temples and buildings during your travels. You can enter the building, finding an open three hall building structure. Inside, you'll find fine wood carving beams, an old stone plaque as well as general information regarding this attraction and others featured as part of the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail. You can easily spend 15-20 minutes at the Tang Chung Ancestral Hall viewing this nicely preserved heritage attraction and reading up on the various attractions you can see along the self-guided walking trail. Note: If you want to download maps or read up on the various attractions before trying to visit the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail, you should visit the Antiquities and Monuments Leisure Office & Cultural Services Department website beforehand.

Amazingly beautiful ancestral hall of the Tang family, who have lived in this area for over 800 years.

A wealthy family would built this elaborate hall to mark the ranking and roles of various family members. Located in the New Territories, it offers a totally different view of Hong Kong. Green, mountainous and sparsely populated.
