The area

Neighborhood: Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighborhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamorous or busy as its neighbors Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighborhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighborhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.

美嫦 meets Sandra and Sarah Stall 152
Hi guys, there is only 1 stall that will make your shopping here memorable and pleasant. Stall 152 Sandra. I had the pleasure of meeting Sarah ( Sandra's sister) and Sandra herself as well. I had the best shopping experience with them, both so knowledgeable and friendly. I bought a few pieces and they gave me the best price. Nothing to complain about. Don't bargain too much as her price is always better than the other stores. Genuine, hardworking and kind people Sandra and Sarah. I love them both immediately ❤️ Thank you Sandra and Sarah. You both are the best! All the best in your business to you both ❤️❤️❤️

Buy from Sandra in Booth 152 for a no hassle experience!
My partner and I hate being hassled. It only makes us not want to buy anything at all nor even look at what a seller is selling! Sandra in Booth 152 is so kind, friendly and patient. Only went straight to her booth based on reviews and her service is 10/10. She helped me out a lot with what I wanted (even though I just wanted 1 thing). She wasn’t pushy nor will she hassle you! AND!! She won’t touch you or poke you like the other sellers. Based on reviews from other buyers, they just bought from regular stores because they didn’t want the whole exhausting experience of haggling with and screaming at the sellers. I had to visit the market because I didn’t want to spend $$$ in a store in the middle of a tourist area. With Sandra, the whole buying experience was so calm and nice that it felt like being in a store!! She’s so so lovely and patient and down to earth!!!!! I normally would let my partner haggle extensively for me with other buyers but with Sandra, she gave me such great prices that I just trusted her fully haha! 10/10 experience. Go buy your jewellery and all things jade here!

Stall 152 Jade Market HK - Sandra Chau- Real and beautiful pearls and jade. I trust her
I went to the Jade Market two times during my visit to HK. Once to just take a look and maybe buy one or two items and the second time to purchase more items. I specifically went there for pearls. It was definitely a mixed bag I wasn’t sure who to trust what to buy and from which stall. Worried i might get inferior or fake pearls. I stumbled upon one stall. Stall No. 152 Sandra Chau. Sandra Pearls. And Jade. Her email is: sandrachau610@yahoo.com.HK phone 9485 2895. She speaks english. She was amazing as were her pearls and jade. I had quite a long conversation with her about pearls and jade. She was honest, decent prices, great jade and pearls- real pearls. She and her brother Kelvin Chau have been selling at Jade market for a very long time and said unfortunately a lot of the sellers try to follow you and push you to buy from them (that did happen to me its a bit annoying) she said sadly that gives the jade market a bad vibe, and ruins it for sellers like her. Please seek her out if you want good jade and real pearls at a decent price. Also they are not high end, but they were exactly what i was looking for, and real. And didn’t cost that much.

There is so much jade and so many stalls (even with some closed) with so much choice. It is beautiful to see all the jade and products on offer.

I think the lack of tourists from COVID has made it a little pressured as every stall owner tries to get you to stay at their stall and you have to hold your own until you are ready to stop and browse. Once you do stop, the owners are super helpful and will help you find what you are looking for.

There is so much choice and you can get great prices although I would try and have an idea of what you are looking for before you go and haggle!

Was really looking forward to visiting this market. Lots and lots of jade, in all shapes, forms, shades and sizes. Unfortunately everyone trys to encourage you into buying from their stalls, which was too intense for me. I did buy a beautiful piece of jade, make sure you negociate the price, i managed to quarter the price!

In addition to the designated indoor Jade Market on Shanghai Street in Yau Ma Tei, you can also walk down Jade Street to the south of here. It is located along Canton Road between Kansu (north) and Jordan Road (south). This street is lined with Jade specialists and other gemstone and jewellery shops.

There is an interesting monument on the corner of Canton Road and Jordan Road. This is the Hong Kong Giant Jade Stone that originated in Burma. It weighs 4,000 kg and was placed here in 2010 by the Hong Kong Jade Association. There is an information panel next to the giant jade stone where you can read up a bit on the history of the Jade trade here in Hong Kong.

I visited Jade Market in search of something memorial.
Sandra pearls that many people reviewed as stall No. "447"previously, is now located in stall No. "152" because of the rearrangement of the market.
Compatible with other reviews, Ms. Sandra is a reliable, polite and so kind person.
She kindly showed and told me the difference among genuine/ genuine but artificially colored/ fake jade (genuine one is cool to the touch).
The price of jade is so reasonable and the quality is so satisfactory that you don't need negotiation.

So much fun and jewelry designs you will otherwise find in the high end jewelry stores. But you need to haggle, to about a fourth or a third of the given price. But the quality is vey good, no matter the seller

Having visited the Jade market regularly when I was in HK prior to COVID I went looking for it again. The site it used to occupy is now being dug up for building works, but if you look a little to the left towards Nathan Road, you will see a grey building and that is where it has moved to. I was delighted to find my usual supplier Sandra Chau of Sandra's Pearls there. She is now Stall 152 and definitely worth a visit. She has terrific stock and never pushes things on to you but likes you to decide. Her prices are fair and the quality of her jewelry is good. I would definitely recommend her.

Shame and double shame on the Hong Kong Tourist Authorities for permitting this disaster of a tourist trap to remain open. From the first 30 seconds of entry being grabbed by the arm and hassled for the next 20 mins for a sale, this Hong Kong Experience should be REMOVED from the to do list. No wonder the vendors are desperate for a sale when no one wants to go there. I strongly recommend to avoid at all costs. There are.countless other Jade options across the city. Do not go or caveat emptor!!!!

Interesting enough to see, but all the stalls are by and large, same same.

If you want Jade, know what you want and what its worth, seek it out. If you like to haggle and move from stall to stall, seek it out. Else, its an interesting market but can be quite tiresome with haggling and fending off venders.....

After such a long hiatus, I was finally able to go visit Hong Kong and the Yau Matei Jade Market. I was shocked to discover the old site was now a constructions ie. Thankfully, I went a bit further and saw that the jade market was still in operation but in the building with a proper signage over the entrance. I went in and it was full of stalls but so many were wrapped up in tarp as the stall keepers had yet to arrive to start the business day. I had to walk around a few times before finding my regular sellers. Was so glad yo see them but the other stall keepers were very aggressively trying to interest me in their wares. Overall it was a fruitful and enjoyable time spent there.

I bought some nice pieces from the Jade Market and it didn't feel like a rip off until I got back to Sydney and showed off my purchases to an acquaintance who is originally from HK. They said my dark green bangle was jade, but of poor quality (not the velly goot quallytee the vendor said it was). I still love wearing it, but I wish I'd spent a bit more money and bought jade with a certificate from one of the shops on the island. It would've been a better investment.

On some of the smaller trinkets I managed to haggle (not one of my strong suits) so overall it was a good experience. It does pay to arm yourself with knowledge of what good jade actually is before you go.
