A rare gem in HK
Jan 2021
If you are a local or not, this place would leave you in awe! Isolated and very quiet this beach is located in Sai Kung East Country Park and could be reached either by taxi to the dam then a quick hike or hiring a boat to take you. We camped here a few times and it could get packed but still had our own private space. Waking up in the morning was very much worth it as we got to see the sunrise. Make sure to bring enough food and water as they don't have any shops you could buy amenities. The toilet is shared and quite smelly but that's the only downside of it. Would totally recommend this to everyone coming to HK!

The white sanded land of Lon Ke..
May 2021 • Friends
It is a must experience in HK. You can come to Lon ke via boat or hiking. We choose hiking as it is more exciting. We came to East Dam from Sai kung and started the hike. It was about 20minutes for us. Lon ke beach is the most beautiful beach I have found in HK. The sand is so white and powdered. A great place to relax and enjoy a day.

A rare 'WOW' beach in Hong Kong
Oct 2020
One of Hong Kong's most beautiful beaches is the isolated Long Ke Beach (Long Ke Wan) situated in the Sai Kung East Country Park. It is very isolated and requires a 1.5 km hike from the East Dam drop off point at the High Island Reservoir.

Long Ke Beach is a long stretch of fine, soft white sand with clean blue waters (not always easy to find in Hong Kong) and beautiful grounds. The beach is at the back of the large cove, it is boxed in between rocky shores and a small Long Ke village with hilly grounds just behind the beach. There is a lot of space for those who bring tents in to enjoy some camping. There is also a public portable toilet as well.

When approaching Long Ke Beach, which is along the famous MacLehose Trail (stage 2), you will first see it from the elevated trails on either sides. From here, there are sweeping landscape views with the beach. It is beautiful see from the trail. You then hike down the trail to the beach area and just enjoy yourself.

Note: We have regularly seen feral cows hanging out on the north end of the beach in the grassy, wooded area where there is shade and a fresh water creek. These are interesting to see as part of visits to Long Ke Beach.

Probably one of HK's most beautiful beaches
Feb 2020
Long Ke Beach (Long Ke Wan) is located 1.5 km north of the High Island Reservoir and East Dam in the Sai Kung East Country Park. This is probably one of Hong Kong's nicest beaches that can be reached by hiking up the MacLehose Stage 2 trail from the East Dam to Long Ke village.

The beach is a long stretch of soft white sand with clear blue waters. It is a popular place for day trips and there is a campground for those who fancy pitching up tent and staying overnight.

If you are hiking the popular MacLehose Stage 2 section, this is one the most beautiful spots of this section of the trail, a place well worth spending a bit of time, having a swim or a snack break before continuing onward with your hike.

Beautiful beach and some exercise

I would suggest to incorporate a visit to this when you visit the Sai Kung volcanic rock region at the East Dam of High Island Reservoir. After you cover this UNESCO geopark area, there is a trail (just at the back of the toilets) with signs to Long Ke Village. Follow the trail and it will take you to the beach within 1/2 an hour. There are many steps down and you come back up the same way. The beach is indeed very clear, beautiful and when we were there on a weekday, we saw less than 10 people there. I don’t see any washrooms at the beach.

Getting there, great hike, beautiful beach.

After figuring out the way to the East Dam from Sai Kung (Take a green cab from the taxi stand by the pier/bus station in Sai Kung to "Dong Ba", cost about $125-130 HKD one way, takes about 30 mins), the hike was moderate, scenic and the beach is fairly clean.

Took us approx. 26 minutes each way from where the cab dropped us. There's a concrete path all the way. The only challenging part is going up hill on the way back.

The white sandy beach is beautiful. Water is clear and not too cold. It's a good place to relax and get some sun as it wasn't too crowded. However, it's a camp site and where there's human, there's garbage. Unfortunately, the garbage bins are not animal proof. A cow was getting into them and pulled all the garbage out. There are no changing/washroom facilities. Bring your own everything.

To return to Sai Kung, call a cab (it was busy so they charged $40HKD extra). Note that they need a HK phone # to book a cab. We started at 130pm and left at 4pm.

One of the best beaches in Hong kong

This site is situated beyond secluded Long Ke Wan. Pollution free, it is a long way from the city. Its silky sand and crystal clear water create a natural environment for the peace seeking camper. With a gentle sea breeze, one can stroll along Man Yee Road towards the site to be rewarded by a pleasant panoramic scene of High Island Reservoir.

Long Ke Beach rewards hikers for a cool and clean dip - unlike other beaches in HK. Amazing view is a plus!
