Ma On Shan Plaza is a major shopping mall near the MTR station. The central artium is remarkable. Most of the shops are chain stores mainly catering to local residents.

Fair small mall Xmas decoration theme for 2018
Dec 2018 • Couples
Ma On Shan Plaza is a small shopping mall with businesses and services catering to nearby residents in Ma On Shan. They have setup an interesting and overall decent Xmas decoration area in the main foyer near the Ma On Shan MTR station entrance this year.

In addition to the Merry Go Round which is located here year round, there is a large scale Christmas Tree that is fairly decorated as well as a playful SanRio Kerokerokeroppi themed area for children with a cartoon(ish) Xmas tree and small playroom which little ones can enter have bit of fun.

Nothing out of this world but this feels like a better effort and overall Xmas decoration experience compared to what they usually come up with during the holiday season.

Local mall for those in Ma On Shan
Apr 2018 • Couples
This is a shopping mall for residents of Ma On Shan situated on the northwest side of the MTR Station and opposite the much larger Sunshine City Shopping Mall. The two shopping centre are linked by way of the MTR Station as well as two covered bridges.

Not really a shopping destination for visitors to Shatin but a good place for those living in the surrounding community. There is an expected range of banks, convenience stores, International supermarket, bakeries and a range of mid-range and local retails and eateries.

For those seeking proper shopping venues the closest place to target is the large and popular New Town Plaza at Sha Tin (Sha Tin MTR Station). This is a better option for visitors seeking more brand name shops and a wider range of restaurants.

The mentioned Sunshine City is also a better overall shopping option as well. However, with much construction and renovation work taking place there, many visitors are spilling over to Ma On Shan Plaza at this time.

Give it a visit if you are staying in Ma On Shan for an extended period of time. Otherwise, reserve your shopping time, energy and money for better malls and other venues in Kowloon and HK Island.

A local shopping mall
Mar 2017 • Friends
A typical local shopping mall that serves the surrounding suburbs and developments. Served by its own MTR station and a whole gamut of buses, the plaza is easily accessed and can get crowded, especially during the weekends (seems to be a favorite meeting place for the overseas maids from the area). The range of products and services is wide, with selections that would suit all segments of the market, from the top brands to the more ordinary "Japanese" knick knack shops. Especially interesting, and source of great fresh and cheap meals and snacks is the Wet Market situated on the ground floor, near the bus stop. Buy some snacks and have them in Ma On Shan park or the promenade.

Easy Shopping, Easy Access
Mar 2015 • Couples
Well away from the bright lights and big city shopping in Hong Kong, this place is very large, very clean with lots of shopping variety. Plenty of coffee shops and restaurants for tired feet. Easy access via rail, bus or on foot.

Convenient
Nov 2014 • Solo
The mall is connected to the bus terminal and MTR station, talk about convenience. Aside from that, if you're not satisfied with this mall, it is actually connected to 2 other malls.
There's a merry go round inside the mall. Sometimes, the line gets really long for that.
I find this mall quite relaxing since it is not in the tourist area. They've got decors and themes everytime, which is cute.

Ma On Shan Plaza - Small local (functional) shopping center
Jun 2013 • Couples
The Ma On Shan Plaza is a small shopping center, located in the district of Sha Tin serving the Ma On Shan Community. It is accessible via direct exit from the Ma On Shan MTR station and is linked to the larger and better shopping mall called Sunshine City Plaza via two different linking bridges.

Generally speaking, this is more of a functional shopping mall that serves the local area and is not a location that visitors should target for shopping when visiting Hong Kong. Most of the shops are smaller, locally owned businesses selling clothes, shoes, electronics as well as a few smaller restaurants. There are a few recognisable businesses like Watsons, 711, Park-n-Shop, Fairwood, Genki Sushi as well as some expected banks and bakery shops.

Overall, the Ma On Shan Plaza is not one for targetting unless you are staying in Ma On Shan during your visit to Hong Kong. A better option is the Sunshine City Plaza, which is connected as mentioned above. Still an even better option would be the much larger New Town Plaza shopping mall in Sha Tin. There is much more dining and brand name shopping available in this more centrally located mall.

For those who do end up visiting the Ma On Shan area, you can also visit the nice Ma On Shan city park, directly accessible from the mall as well as the Ma On Shan Promenade area, which is a nice place to walk along the Tolo Harbour.
