The area
Neighborhood: Sheung Wan
Unlike most of Hong Kong’s other popular districts, Sheung Wan welcomes wanderers with an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere. Art galleries are plentiful and boutique cafés are tucked away in every side street in the sub district known as “PoHo.” Browse through the vintage clothing and handmade leather goods stores – it’s no surprise fashionistas flock to this area. History enthusiasts will be rewarded with sites of beautiful architecture, reflecting Sheung Wan’s past as one of the earliest settlements by British forces. As night falls, the entertainment scene reveals itself to be just as laid back with its private kitchens, speakeasies and underground bars dotted throughout the area. When in Sheung Wan, everyday feels like the weekend.

Great experience
Mar 2021
Was a great experience in Hong Kong. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely be back! We did the 'Traditional Hong Kong' course, where you make egg tarts, pineapple buns and sausage rolls.

The course instructor was fantastic. Very knowledgable, fun and engaging.

Excellent bread making class
Oct 2020 • Solo
Really excellent class- the teacher was very knowledgeable and was able to communicate in both excellent English and Cantonese. The class was perfectly planned- the timings of the bread making matched perfectly and we were all happy we could take home a small sofa bread and then 4 bread rolls. Have already booked to come back! 🙂 Would 100% recommend!

Artisan Baking made simple !
Aug 2020
I have attended almost all classes and keep wishing that Victor adds more !
It all started with my search for stress busters after work, when nothing else seemed to work. After one class, I just got hooked.

Soon an oven, baking tools, books and weekend visits to Shanghai street made way into my life. Not only did I learn to bake , but also made good friends inside and outside the studio. All the people in my building, get to savor all that I practice at home. Their love and fondness keeps me going , to learn more and spread happiness through food in this difficult time.

Victor and his team pay a lot of attention to detail - the recipe, techniques and patiently take questions from everyone. What’s more, every single item is literally made by hand. Awesome experience.

We have came done the Cinnamon Buns, Hong Kong pastries and Bagel classes - and attending the Scone class tomorrow. Very well organised with each step being explained in detail, and hands-on fun! So happy to have found a space to enjoy baking since it is impossible to find such space in the typical Hong Kong home.

Incredibly fun experience
Feb 2020 • Friends
I went to The Mixing Bowl with a group of friends for a private party. We made pizza and chocolate lava cake. My experience exceeded my expectations. The host and owner, Kyle, is so knowledgeable and an excellent instructor. We all had a fabulous time and I was amazed at how good the pizzas and cake were! The best pizza I’ve had in HK...and I made it! Amazing. After this class, I am confident I can replicate the recipe at home. Thanks Kyle! That was a blast!

Fun, romantic evening of culinary education.

Kyle is clearly an amazing chef, but more importantly, an amazing teacher and host. My wife and I attended a class as a birthday gift and learned to make homemade pasta + a delicious chocolate soufflé. Kyle made the class engaging and an education far beyond the “steps”, describing the history and variants of the techniques. It was fun, relaxed and we enjoyed a delicious meal with the rest of the class in the beautifully designed dining room afterwards. This is our third class and we’d absolutely recommend it for an evening out. Thank you Kyle!

Birthday Bake
Sep 2019
I booked a Hong Kong traditional snacks baking class for a friend's birthday, and we were both very impressed with the class - our baked goods a testament to its success.

Kyle gave easy to follow instructions and was very knowledgeable in explaining the science behind what we were doing as well as practical tips in implementing various techniques to come up with the best results. We're both really looking forward to joining more in the future!
