I did a bike tour with Mr. Hansen last summer in northern New Territories along the border with China and Shenzhen. We really enjoyed his company, the easy pace of the ride, the scenery and his knowledge of the area including historical details of the villages we road through. He also took us right through a Chinese PLA army base that used to be a British colonial army base to protect the city's northern border from China. How cool is that? Hope to do another tour soon.

We (4 People) stayed in HK for three weeks in January 2016 and did several tours with Michael. He is a great guide, a really nice and funny person. He told us a lot about local people always had a good restaurant on hand he was very flexible in customizing our walks to our needs and wants gave us plenty of time for taking as much pictures as we wanted, and all of our tours took longer than planned which we liked a lot . . He always had an advice for things we could explore on our own "in case we get there while we are in HK". One date the weather was really bad a short call / talk in the morning and we could easily change the date to another day. One of my friends is handicapped in walking Michael always had a suggestion where we could meet her for doing a short period of the tour all together if she can come there by Metro or bus or if she wants to meet us for lunch that was really great and nice of Michael. He speaks english, german and cantonese his german is really good and when there is a word or expression he didn´t know we switched to english it worked perfectly. so if you are looking for a german speaking guide in HK here he is Thanks again to Michael for a great time we really enjoyed it and will for sure book you again when we come back to HK.

Michael was very kind in re-arranging our walking tour in Kowloon because the weather was so wet! He was full of interesting facts and showed me parts of the city I would never have visited. He was an excellent guide and I would be delighted to join another tour next time I visit Hong Kong.

For excellent walker, you can get what ever you want. Michael made a special hike for us and was able to change itinerary during the hike to go closer to our wishes. Be sure to plan your trip taking care of the meteo if recevable. Dragon back with a suddent peak of heat was difficult as a cloudy meteo with rain was promised. Swiming in the sea is really nice even if the changing room common not single for boy was unclean. Nice local restaurants at the market, double deck tram... A full day of walk in the kaléidoscope of Hong Kong Island. So go for a walking tou with mickael will let you see Hong Kong saving you an incredible amont of time on a self discovery. We have to mention that Mikael as the hability to speak also in French. His help in Cantonese is also very valuable.

I had contacted Michael a few months prior to our trip to Hong Kong to arrange a private tour of the Ghost Towns. My mother is actually from one of the villages but although we have returned to HK many times in the past, mum had never returned to her village since leaving as a child, so it was going to be an exciting trip. There were 6 of us on this tour and we had requested a tailor-made hike as some of the group are 60+ and we thought a shorter hike would be more appropriate. My family can speak Cantonese and English fluently, but I deliberately chose an English speaking guide for our English guests. I had also read the reviews on TA and this company sounded like the best bet. Meeting with Michael was easy to do and off we went for the pier at Sai Kung. Our boat guy arrived and we had a very pleasant trip across the waters. Micheal was very informative and had interesting facts and info to share. However, bearing in mind, that 3 people of the 6 are frequent travellers to HK, some of the repetitive info was a bit overkill. The hikecost HKD3060 and this included the minibus from Choi Hung MTR station to Sai Kung town (25 minutes), the bus from Sai Kung town to Wong Shek pier (30 minutes), the boat rides and the bus back to the MTR at the end (30-40 minutes). The transportation to and from the MTR station as well as lunch are not included. The reason being that these costs would vary depending on where you are staying and what food you order. We understood the variance in cost of the MTR. The lunch turned out to be at the boat guy's house, where they served some fried squid, some yeung chow fried rice, a plate of singapore noodles and some greens. All tasted great and was needed after the hike. Now - why was the service disappointing? Well, at lunch, we were offered soft drinks and beers. Some of the group ordered beers, which were shared amongst us, including our guide. Now, it's not that we don't like to share but as Michael was there on a professional level, we certainly found it odd that not only was he helping himself to the beer (6 large bottles were drank between us) but when we were leaving he also ordered himself another large bottle of beer, plus a can of beer. There was no menu, so we had to leave it up to the boat guy to serve up whatever he had. Our lunch and drinks cost us HKD500 and we have no idea how that was calculated because there were no pricelists/menus anywhere! After lunch, we were back on the boat to head back towards the city, and I was astonished to see Michael chatting away to our guests, whilst swigging at the bottled beer all to himself. When we got off the boat we had to trek a little further to a minibus stop. During that walk, Michael had finished the bottled beer and had progressed to the can of beer!! Once arriving at the minibus stop, we had a few minutes to wait and Micheal said he knew the owners of the nearby restaurant so we would be welcome to go and sit indoors to get out of the sweltering heat and enjoy the AC. The owners were very welcoming and we decided to order some drinks. Micheal ordered another beer but this was on the house for him as he knows them. Fair enough I suppose, but seriously, I wouldn't expect a hired guide to be drinking as much alcohol as he did!! I wouldn't like to say he was intoxicated, but the repetitiveness of his facts and info during the bus journey was really getting on our nerves. In conclusion, the hike was tiring in the heat but we all had great fun seeing the villages, hearing the history, experiencing the other side to HK with it's amazing nature. Unfortunately, an alcohol thirsty guide did leave a dampener on the day.
