Top ways to experience nearby attractions

The area
Neighborhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.

Shopping mall in Causeway bay. Accessible to MTR exit. Notable fashion apparels, designer brands, cosmestics and groceries are available. The mall is crowded during weekends and public holidays.

Shopping paradise in the sales seasons. It is the biggest SOGO Department Store in Hong Kong. Situated above Causeway Bay MTR station it is a shopping paradise especially if you happen to be there during the sales season. 16 stories and more than 200 brands. A lot of Japanese food in the basement. A not to miss stop in the HK shopping tour.

I enjoy browsing around Sogo Mall very much. This mall consists of 10 stories of various counters of shops. It is very well organised and very easy to walk around. You can get to Sogo Mall by MTR (there is an exit that leads you right into the basement of Sogo).

First of all the clothing and apparels are unique. Most of them are imported from Japan. The quality is good but what impressed me was the friendliness of the Sogo Staff.. They went out of their way to help us with our queries. They are also very efficient in their service.

Secondly, there's such variety of goods on offer that you could spend a good 3 hours there just browsing and deciding on what you need and not need.

Thirdly, we loved the food at the basement of the Mall. There are little stall of hot food that you can purchase and eat there and then (no seating) and there are counters of different snacks that you can purchase as much and as little as you want (price base on the weight of the food you select).

Lastly, my absolute favourite is Sogo Cafe. They serve siphon coffee!!! Magnificiently brewed blue mountain coffee. It was $72.00 per small cup but because I loved it so much I went back twice to have the coffee.

Only downside is that this is such a popular place, weekends are generally really packed.

I saw this place in Tripadvisor as a good place to shop in Hong Kong but I was very disappointed at the whole shopping experience. May be I am spoilt in Australia with all the comforts of shopping. My husband and I was looking for a place to sit down and have a cup of coffee before we start our shopping but was shock to find that there is only one coffee shop on the food court section. We have to wait for at least 30 min to get a seat. We end up not buying anything because we just don't enjoy the shopping experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone who come to HK for shopping name brands. Come to Sydney and enjoy shopping here as we have lots of room, coffee shop, seating in the shops and the shopping mall. You will be so much more relax and comfortable shopping in Sydney.

This mall is high end and is generally pricey depending on what you buy. Majority of the stores are genuine brands and some have good sale prices. The mall is huge at 13 levels so make sure you have enough time at hand to explore/shop around. Anyone can easily spend at least 3 hours here.A must visit for shoppers.

We shopped at Sogo on our last day at HK. Pretty good for last minute shopping for souvenier, clothings etc. We bought a few Adamo 3D bags (coin pouches for niece and friends), hat for my nephew etc. Customer service is impeccable. HK is renowned for packaging goods. Gift wrappings seem to be the norm. Loved this concept. Save me having to gift wrap presents. All designer brands readily available under one roof.

I have got to say that the SOGO Mall (Causeway Bay), on Hennessy Road, in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, China, is excellent. My wife and I went from the basement, floor by floor, up 16 of them I believe, all the way to the topmost floor and really checked it out.

They seem to have just about everything. And what they have, seems to be of excellent quality and calibre. They are not selling things just to be selling them and using floor space. Certainly there are some 'budget' sections in this gigantic store / mall, but they are more the exception than the rule. There is a nice restaurant on one of the upper floors. There are beauty salons. And the staff that we interacted with were very courteous and professional.

The best way to go is via the Hong Kong MTR, exit Causeway Bay. You will now be in the basement of the SOGO Mall. Have fun.

Now I am really showing my age...

This big Japanese department store chain occupies the pre-eminent corner at this busy intersection of CWB for decades, long before many other malls.

It was THE place to go to for quality merchandizers of all kinds.

Even after all this years it hasn't lost its luster. Conveniently located with access to the excellent transport system of HK. For those who love shopping/eating especially in CWB, I put it on the top of the list.

SOGO mall is very large and has its own entrance from Causeway Bay MTR station. The food hall in the basement is fabulous, with assorted goodies from all over the world (and prices to match). Also recommended is the floor with sports items (sports shoes, swimming, hiking , etc.). My daughter for obvious reasons prefers the 7th floor with the toy section.....

There is a store I just discovered near the sogo. I menat Sogo is a great department store with all you needed to buy(clothing, food, present, kids wear etc), I enjoyed the shopping with my girls there. But this store 'SH supplies' is just a 30 seconds walking distance from Sogo and I can find almost all the toiletries brands I'm using at home. Their price is reasonable and some of them even cheaper than I bought in the supermarket. The shopkeeper told me the merchantdiser had connections with the wholesale managers. This is why they can get the best price.
