From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong!

Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people.

There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

Go to the races! Experience the horse-races, bet on your choice of horse and get a beer or 2! Maybe you win, maybe you loose - but it really is a great experience!

Even you are not a gambler I still suggest all tourists to spend a great evening there. However, there is no any race during the hot summer season.

It is a very nice place to visit in the evening, besides betting on the races, you can enjoy the beer garden with different kind of beer all over the world, delious Chinese and European food are also provided. Live musics and dancers created a nice atmosphere all night long. This is a program you shouldn't miss when you are... More

Coming from New Zealand this was always about comparisons. We were not here on a race day, so can't comment on the facilities. However the course is beautiful, with the centre space fully utilised for the general public.Although not all the stables are the same the space has been carefully used to provide ease of movement with the veterinary clinic in... I was excited to read about this event and go. However, it was so much cooler than I expected! The track is huge and amazing! Loads of food and beer tents, plus a great crowd. Fantastic sporting event and one of the best parts of the trip.

We walked a short distance to the YMCA Hotel on a Wednesday where we were picked up by bus to go to Happy Valley racecourse. The buffet style food was nice and plentiful and the drinks were good. Service was ok but the staff were overwhelmed early on by the number of people attending. Very friendly table of people on... More

Living in Hong Kong, I go once in a while to the race course to have a night out with friends. The place gives an amazing view on Happy Valley, you watch (kind of) the race and have some good cold beer. You HAVE to do it if you're in town a Wednesday night and I promise a good and... More

The racecourse on Wednesday evenings is the place to be. And what a place it is: well-maintained grounds surrounded by gorgeous skyscrapers as handsome horses run past, you realize just how good you have it living in Hong Kong. Sure, you can place bets and hopefully win some cash. But I enjoy being more of a non-invested spectator who hangs... More
