From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong!

Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people.

There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

Horse racing is normally held on Wednesday evenings at Happy Valley. You can watch the event not only as a member of the Jockey Club but you can gain admittance as a general public. When there is no racing, people can in the day time enter the racing course where there are football fields and open space for people to... More

We didn't even realize the track was there when we drove by. Once inside, it was fabulous! We only had a few nights in Hong Kong and I was sure glad one of them was spent here!

Everyone goes, the drinks are cheap, the entertainment constant. We won a few races which helps! Go up to the 6th floor for at least a couple of races and get a view from the balcony. Then head out in Wan Chai after. Carnage! This is a must do while in HK mid-week.

It matters not if you are a regular horse track visitor or not this is one place to visit whilst in HK. It is so busy with everything to do with racing and the facilities are unbeatable.

If you a are looking for a fun night, Happy Valley is the place. Centrally located. Great atmosphere on the lawn. Band was playing, great crowd. It appears ex-pats use a night at the races to catch up. This is a cheap night out and it does not matter if you are not into horses as its appears most of... More

Such a great night out if you happen to be in Hong Kong on a Wednesday. No need to book fancy meals, just pay into the public area (it's super cheap or even free later on) where there are lots of beer tents, music and a great atmosphere! Head early enough as it's all over by 10.30pm.

We went on a Wednesday evening and had a blast. The actual horse races are only a small part of the experience. Arrive on time (it's still quite a walk from the nearest metro station) and get your drinks and food before everyone else does or you'll have to wait some time. Very international crowd, cheerfull atmosphere and also have... More

Really cheap to get in (£1) and atmosphere not to be missed. Didn't have a bet but still had a great evening. Don't miss.
