From the stunning skyline to the spectacle of Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong is full of world-class sights for travellers to see. But if you’re looking for fun – to add a little ‘do’ to your ‘see’ – then look no further than Happy Wednesday at Happy Valley Racecourse, the city’s trendiest headquarters for mouth-watering food, thirst-quenching beverages and thrilling excitement both on and off the track. There’s nothing quite like a night at the races in Hong Kong!

Week in and week out, Happy Wednesday fans are treated to a full sensory experience, pairing the pulse-pumping entertainment of jousting jockeys with a weekly theme that is integrated into everything from live bands and interactive games to on-course decorations and a delicious, reasonably priced trackside menu. Come in the fall and you’ll be treated to refreshing pints and a festive bratwurst for Oktoberfest – the largest outdoor beer festival in Hong Kong. Drop in during May, however, and it’s all ratatouille and brie, as Happy Wednesday hosts the hugely popular French Nights. It’s an extravaganza that’s fit for Asia’s world city, putting an international twist on a sport that has a rich heritage and cultural tradition for the city’s people.

There’s simply nowhere else in the world where you can experience such a seamless blend of racing and lifestyle in one event. Whether you’re a local, an expat, or just visiting Hong Kong, there’s truly something for everyone at Happy Wednesday!

Our friends took us here, it operates every Wednesday evening and more money is bet here each week than in the whole of the year in Britain! Great atmosphere, food, drink and entertainment. Good views of the racecourse if you pay an extra 20 Hong Kong dollars (about £2) to get access to a higher part of the stands.

I went to Happy Valley on the Wednesday night of a recent business trip. Entrance is only HK$10 at the public entrance and that is the only area you need. Minimum bets are HK$20 and there are lots of beer tents and food outlets. A good nights entertainment in HK.

It isn't a trip to HK without a visit to Happy Valley races. Even if you aren't into horse racing it is well worth a look. Amazing location and atmosphere.

My husband and I took the ding ding all the way to the end of the happy valley line and ended up here. You can use your octopus card to get in, fairly inexpensive, and have a blast drinking beer and eating juicy hot dogs and delicious curly fries. We didn't bet on the horses as we'd never been to a... Very nice vibe atmosphere. I enjoy night out with friends. The food is decent price, the service is quick with happy face, clean restrooms, well-dressed people, live entertainment and great way to get to know other expats. There are a lot of security guards and customer services ...No hooligans or violence drunkard here

Great team night out after work. Bets start from hk $10 and its hk $10 to get in too (You can pay with octopus). Jugs of beer about $150 Pretty bizarre to see a racetrack right in city centre. Apartments literally all around. Great atmosphere

Was in hongkong during Wednesday and went here to check what all the fuss is about. Huge gathering of people who are horse racing enthusiasts. The atmosphere gets pretty electric in here. Didn't bet anything as this was my first time in a racecourse but used free wifi to read about the game and almost tried my luck. You can... More

First time here, not for horse racing but the Oktoberfest. There is lots of fun, beers, snacks. It is fun participating in international events. Watching horse racing is fun too!

The Millions is a nice venue with big terrace. The terrace is big enough to put a few round tables for dinner outside during cooler weather. Dining and overseeing the race course is quite an experience.

The Race course is hardly a tourist spot for us locals. First of all, there is a race per se to become a member for the right just to go in . Then, it is a place where fortunes are made or broken up. It is not the Jockey Club's policy to encourage gambling. But, Chinese are fond of gambling... More
