- Marketa MHong Kong, China19 contributionsBirthday celebrationIt was our first time birthday celebration in Ocean Park and we did not know what to expect. We were told that we could bring a birthday cake but had to keep it in the customer service counter. On the day, we showed the cake to OP staff during our entry and were allowed to take it in. OP was not crowded due to the compulsory registration system (only 4 people allowed on one registration), but there were still 20-40 min queues for most rides in the upper area probably due to social distancing. Most visitors on Monday afternoon were not children but adults. Cleaning staff in OP are super efficient, so if your child is a slow eater, you better watch out. Our children’s food was taken away and thrown into a bin when we were not looking. We were caught by heavy rain by the end of our visit and were very happy to be allowed to take shelter in one indoor area. Overall, the OP staff was very helpful and accommodating.Visited October 2020Traveled with familyWritten October 5, 2020
- MJB_zurichZurich, Switzerland558 contributionsTuesday visit with many rides and food places closedOcean Park is basically a zoo and theme park in one. We mainly went to Ocean Park for the Pandas as there are two pandas in the exhibit. For just visiting the pandas, the ticket price is quite high and really only worth it if you also go to other attractions in the park. We went on a Tuesday in Jan and found many rides and food stalls closed that day. At least their website is up to date with the closures.Visited January 2020Traveled with friendsWritten January 7, 2020
- WaiHong Kong, China2 contributionsA rather disappointing experience. As a local who grew up with the once best theme park in HK, I have never been so disappointed. On the positive side, because I chose to visit on a weekday, the park was not crowded at all and even the cable car ride has zero waiting time. Low or no waiting time for most of the rides too. Visits to the aquarium and other wild life / marine creatures were very enjoyable too. However, the management has failed to maintain a cheerful atmosphere for visitors. Quite a few of the rides and exhibitions were closed while many staff looked grumpy. Official park souvenir photos are expensive. Masks were mandatory so it's not likely that people would pay the $$$ for a pair of eyes inside the cable car! The once full house Ocean Theater is now 'down-graded' to a small circle show renamed "Dolphin Exploration", entertaining only a small crowd at the front of the pool. The major audiences were left bewildered at what's happening and where. The park is nice and clean. Plants were beautifully kept. But the atmosphere is rather depressing and sad. For $360 it's worth a visit. However, the Park must make more effort in uplifting the its attractiveness rather than simply adjusting the admission fee.Visited December 2022Written December 5, 2022
- DCinHKHong Kong, China40 contributionsBe prepared to spend a lot of $$$ or be prepared wait for hours…The concept is great and it is a nice addition to the existing ocean park. The location is amazing, facing the sea and fairly accessible via shuttle from the nearby MTR station. The shuttle needs to be booked in advance, it is free, which is probably the only free thing you will get today! When you spot a QR code on a sticker in the shuttle advising you to book your locker in advance to skip the queue, you know you are getting into trouble! Here comes the first surprise, you need to pay for a locker and it starts with a hefty HKD 120 for the smallest locker size - expect to put nothing more than 2 small bags there. For larger sizes, you need to pay HKD 200 or 280. I had read in the past that Ocean Park was in financial trouble, now I see it with my own eyes, this is not going to be a cheap day. Basically, all the rides on a sunny weekday of end of June were showing wait times ranging from 45 to 105 minutes. The crowd management is not ideal and bear in mind that the park is not yet operating at full capacity due to Covid: when there is such a crowd, you would expect that the staff would fill every buoy to its full capacity… sadly not! Obviously the strategy is to sell their fast track package so you can access shorter queues: it starts at HKD 250 for 4 single priority accesses, or HKD 500 for unlimited access. For an extra HKD 100, you can choose the HKD 600 package which gives you access to the surf striker as well. Do note that these come in limited stock… In short, I had not anticipated such crowd on a weekday and by the time I realized how much of a nightmare it would be, fast track passes were sold out. In total I managed to do 3 rides between 2pm and 6pm. Was it a pleasant experience? Not really. Would I go back again? Maybe in winter if I can expect less crowd or if I am motivated enough to spend the big bucks. But for now, it was just pure disappointment and left a bitter taste that those who cannot afford to spend so much money will be left aside.Visited June 2022Traveled with friendsWritten July 3, 2022
- Sunshine7381004 contributionsBad lunch experience no wonder they are getting bankrupt.Eventhough the park is only taking 25% of its max capacity, it took us over 2.5 hours to wait for a table for lunch. Trains and rides were slow to operate even though there was only 10-15 people waiting for each ride. We waited at the penguin restaurant for over 1.5 hrs to no avail, then had to take the train back to the park entrance Neptune restaurant to try out luck. Then took us almost 1 hr more to finally get a table.Visited June 2020Traveled with familyWritten June 18, 2020
- josephcheung1997Sydney, Australia24 contributionsCould Ocean Park be able to survive ?We went to visit the ocean park on 10 October 2020, we found a number of attractions were closed and frequency of some operations had reduced. The most annoying is, the park did not design to give a comfortable environment to its visitors. For instance, in a hot day, when you lined up for the cable car coming down from the top, you had to walked up hill for a long long way. No appropriate shelter or very little cover was there. Imagine, under the hot sunshine, what a pity. In additional, I checked the financial report of Ocean Park 2018-2019, the average revenue from a visitor dropped to $200 from $290 of the previous year. How come the executives and the management team did not notice and explain this importance revenue drop in the annual report. The whole OP annual report seems purposely want to hide their failures and intended to avoid to do any investigation to make improvement. Why?Visited October 2020Written October 10, 2020

We had made a day trip to Ocean Park just 2 week before. And when booking after speaking to the Guest relation team of Ocean Park - it was never mentioned that admission fee need to be paid when attending Penguin Encounter. And since it was not available on the day of going to Ocean Park - had too choose another day. So ending up having to pay again for the admission to the park. Really disappointed in their LACK of clear information and communication.Visited July 2021Written July 13, 2021

The Steep climb and views out over the island and towards Repulse Bay and Stanley are spectacular. We loved the Grand Aquarium and many of the animal exhibits. In the evening we saw the 7pm light show for Chinese New Year and it was spectacular. We ate at the Pizza restaurant on the Waterfront deck and it was the best food we have ever eaten in a theme park. Recommend the arancini balls and the Margherita pizza. - justfabioMilan, Italy145 contributionsA perfect mix of nature exploration and funIf you like aquariums or animal parks but you are also in search of a bit of adventure this is definitely the place to be. The aquarium is beautiful and you will be amazed by ocean animals like the sea lion, the giant crab, the manta, beautiful colorful jelly fishes and the octopus. As for the rest of the park you will definitely fall in love with the pandas! If you’re lucky enough you will see a panda having lunch! That’s not enough? Well you can enjoy the incredible (scaring!) roller coaster facing the sea with a unique view. This park is for sure an incredible experience!Visited January 2020Traveled with familyWritten January 11, 2020

We had the most memorable and fantastic experience in the Hongkong ocean park. Especially me and my brother who loves to ride in a scary, heart-attack, extremely and thrilling rides. And HK ocean park did not fail us. Though the line is long but the experience is great after the ride. But remember to bring extra clothes or raincoat because some rides will land in a water that makes your clothes wet. Next time, we should book our tour there - 2 days so that we could enjoy all the rides as well as the shows.

We arrived right when it opened and still had a bit of a long, mostly uncovered, wait in the sun to get in because they have a fairly convoluted system of checking passes/tickets plus reservations. Aside from that aspect, the staff were friendly amd helpful.
Once in, it’s a good size park split into two sections - a bottom, which is mostly geared for younger or smaller kids, and a top, which has bigger rides and the carnival area.
We did both sections, and found it plenty big enough to include a lot of walking.
We sat for an hour in the shade for the dolphin show, and it was worth it as we needed a break anyway. Those shows will all end soon, so it was good to see before it closes forever.
The park had drinks machines, toilets and directions easy to find, but we found nowhere to sit and eat, so we sat on a curb. The park was clean and the wait for food (in our case, a little stall on the way down to the aquarium) wasn’t long, and the prices weren’t that bad.
The annual pass upgrade option is a good one but another convoluted process. The pandas and arctic animals exhibits were wonderfully air conditioned and bigger than I expected.
A nice park that’s super easy to get to on the MTR. Definitely go on weekdays for a better experience. With their annual passes, my kids even go for just two hours after school sometimes, and have a good time.

I have been visited Ocean Park last year. There are some amusement rides, carnival games and public aquariums. Although they were interesting and captivating, the products in Ocean Park were too expensive. Some of the food were more than 100 dollars so it was not a good idea to have lunch or dinner in Ocean Park. Also, it is not a good place to take photos. There were only a few decorations around the park. Therefore, I didn’t recommend you to take photos in Ocean Park.

Theres a mcdonald inside ocean park and also other food stall there.
I am considered plus size (though not super fast) and definitely bigger than Asian size. How would I go fitting into the rides? Are their tester seats before you queue for ages?
Thanks!

Im not sure if they has a tester, but i think you can fit to their seats. And in the ocean park there's a lot of attractions not just a ride, and you should be ready for a long walk. 😁

No but they do on occasion have a splash zone set up! Sprinklers and other water features for kids to run and play in. Best to go online and check before your visit as it’s not all the time!

With the ongoing protest will it be safe to travel now in hongkong? because i already made my booking and it is non refundable thanks
The protests move around HK mostly causing travel chaos. Check before travelling to see where disruptions are occuring and avoid that area. Otherwise you should not feel any other impact on your visit.

I did not see any water games for adults in the entire Park when I was there in January this year. I am not sure if they added any recently.
