Beautiful village and beach on the east side of HK Island. Take a bus ride around the island to this secluded spot; you'd never know you're in Hong Kong! A few nice restaurants off the road between the bus terminus and the beach.
We visited last week for the day. The scenery on the way is spectacular through mountains. Beach was very quiet. Some work going on in various places due to last months typhoon, therefore a few piles of driftwood etc to still clear. Weather was overcast...More

We came to Shek O village in a very rainy day. Yet, the views were beatiful! We reached the beach side and then climbed a little bit up to the hill, via the Lovers' Bridge (taking the path toward Tai Tau Chau). On the top...More

Nice spot HK getaway. A bit far but worth the trip. A petty they took the barbecue. Can be a bit crowded on weekends or public holidays. Nice relaxed atmosphere and with good restaurant options around.
Shek O is the perfect example of what amazes me about Hong Kong! You would never know you're just a couple of miles away from the concrete jungle that is Hong Kong island. This is definitely a touristy area (if you're looking for more essential...More

It deppends on what are you planning, the beach is small and the waves are just perfect for surf but, is kinda far away and there is just 1 bus once in a while during day so if you are planning to stay the whole night there are some cheap places, the village is really small with 3 or 4 options for food, my suggestion, visit Shek O early morning so you can enjoy almost the whole day and don't miss the buss otherwise you will be stuck there. And when it comes to other Hong Kong beaches I suggest you Repulse Bay but to be honest Shek O is way better.
