Shek-O and Big Wave Bay have always been the classic places to go for an envigorating swim to get out of the summer heat. It's still that and if you have no swimming togs you can buy them there. Great!

The beach is easily accessible by bus (number 9 from Shau Kei Wan mtr) and it is in front of ShekO village. Once you arrive you can rent chair and umbrella from the many ladies there. It is a sandy beach, and sea is usually very good in the morning, while after 1pm becomes a little wavy and dull. There... More

If you want some time out from all the shops and away from the crowds go to Shen O. This is a little village that has a few open style eateries and some beach wear shops It is very raw and that is the charm nobody is about. The beach is well patrolled with over 6 lifeguards it is all... More

Great walk, and a peaceful break from the city, fantastic views when the cloud broke and a very ethereal walk when they came in and it rained. We finished this off with the no 9 bus into Shek O and a fantastic meal at Shek O Seafood and Thai restaurant :)

Such a pitty that this beach was so unclean, because has a beautiful nature. It was impossible to dive into the water, as the plastic was all over, touching you like jellyfish. I got also some itchyng caused by the pollution. Very sad what we've been doing to our planet.

I visited this attraction on a work outing. One doesn't associate beaches with Hong Kong as it's more usual to think of shopping or food. However this beach makes a very nice alternative to both. Located about 20 minutes drive from Causeway Bay, Shek O beach is a slice of nature in the big city. On my visit, the water... More

The beach can be accessed via public light bus departing from SauKeiWan (next to MTR station) or by bus (#9). It is less than 30 min ride, so easily accessible by all. Some people went for BBQ but we went to relax and enjoy the sun. We were greeted by a few sales for beach chair and umbrella rental. After... More

Shek O village has a nice little beach. It is sheltered and has calm waters most of the time. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, but the chairs are extremely uncomfortable, there are no sun loungers. It gets crowded on weekends, but other days less so. There are plenty of small simple restaurants in the area. Prices are good.

Stopover at Shek O after Big Wave Bay. Longer stretch of beach with more lifeguards on duty. The backdrop is more scenic thus I walked nearer to take photo to realise that there were quite a lot of rubbish on the beach, maybe got washed up by the water. Overall, there were more activities here compare to Big Wave Bay... More
