Jacky is Very knowledgeable and friendly. The full day tour went by so fast as we enjoyed seeing Hong Kong from so many different sides literally and figuratively. I will definitely recommend him for anyone who appreciates learning history as well as getting the taste of the the modern day living of a local.

My family of 5 did the Private Customized Day Tour of Macau. It was my first time to go by bridge and it was very convenient and comfortable. We went on a Saturday so the crowds very quite thick. The last time I was in Macau was 15 yrs ago. The construction of roads & buildings were everywhere, but the Heritage spots were protected. Jacky was knowlegeable & eloquent and the tour covered a lot of ground. We got to taste Macanese food in a restaurant frequented by locals only. Jacky adjusted the schedule according to our needs which was good, as we could only handle a certain amount of casino tours. We were more interested in the historical part of the tour. From the hotel pick up in Hongkong to dropoff back to hotel 8 hours later, it was a pleasant trip everyone enjoyed.

We could not be happier with our tour of Hong Kong led by Jacky. Our cruise arrived on Easter Sunday, and Jacky met us promptly at the terminal and led us on a throughly interesting walking tour, which wasn't just walking by any means. It included a ferry ride, taxi ride, tram ride, subway ride, boat ride, bus ride, and monorail ride, all perfectly planned without any waiting or wasted time. All the while, Jacky was talking with us about the history, the daily life in Hong Kong, answering our questions, and customizing the tour as needed. We mentioned that we would love to have a dim sum lunch, so he took us at the end of the tour to a great little place near the cruise terminal, ordered for us in Chinese, and left us with directions to get ourselves back to the ship when we finished. The next day Jacky emailed us several photos which he snapped of us throughout the tour....A great reminder of a great day! Our kudos to Jacky.

DISCLAIMER: we were negligent in thoroughly reviewing the contract and did not realize the payment currency stated in the contract was USD, not HKD, thus resulting in a radically higher fee than anticipated. This oversight was completely our fault and has no influence or bearing on the experience that ruined our very short visit to Hong Kong.

If you are looking for a boring and negative perception of Hong Kong, Jacky will fit the bill. Jacky speaks English very well and earned 2/5 points for appearing to have high level knowledge of how to navigate the city as would any local (street names, public transportation, common events/activities around the city) but provided no unique or interesting perspective to what a basic tour should provide, not to mention a personal tour. We learned more in the 20 minutes we spent reading Wikipedia, over the dull three hours spent with Jacky.

Jacky met the two of us at our Hong Kong Island hotel. We briefly discussed some of the activities we had already completed in brief Hong Kong visit and what we were looking forward to seeing in our personal tour. Jacky determined that a walking tour through Kalwoon and its evening markets would be a good fit for us. During the 25 min commute from Hong Kong Island to Kalwoon, there was very little conversation. I was hoping that Jacky would jump in with facts, history, or interesting information about the evening ahead, but other than surface level discussion about his career and background, no other talking points were exchanged.

Having spent several hours at the Hong Kong Peak audio tour earlier that day, we had a high level introduction to Hong Kong history but were eager for more information. We picked Jacky’s brain about the history of Hong Kong and the geographic advantage to its location. While he appeared secondary education of Hong Kong history, his delivery was curtailed and contradictory to what we had heard/read. For instance, when we inquired whether the reference to Kalwoon meant nine dragons, he stated that was incorrect and the reference to eight mountains and a Chinese emperor was “made up history.” In a moment of odd silence, he did not offer up any additional information.

Immediately upon arrival at Kalwoon, Jacky suggested he was tired and offered to go for Hong Kong Style Milk Tea at a local diner. This was how we started out our tour. Again, there was little discussion. Thirsty for information (not Tea), we began spewing questions at Jacky about the location, politics, history, culture, etc. Having a communications background, I was able to fill the air with a healthy amount of questions, but after an hour it became exhausting. After about 1 hour, I made it a point to inform Jacky that we would like a more informative tour without us having to ask so many questions and he responded "I like when you ask questions, it's better for me." Jacky had answers to all of our questions, but his answers were high level and did not contain historical depth. Despite not having a real grasp on the history, he had nothing of interest to share. His responses about Hong Kong life and culture provided us absolutely no breadth or uniqueness. We literally had to ask every single question. If we didn't ask a question, there would be silence or Jacky would state the obvious name of the street, market or area.

The following quotes are verbatim:
When I asked the significance of the Peninsula Hotel, Jacky said "it’s an old hotel with a nice lobby."
When I asked about economic influence and the main export, Jacky said “watches and re-export.”
When I asked if there are fun facts that I should know about TST (Tsim Sha Tsu), Jacky said "not really, I wish there was. Tourism in Hong Kong is going down, there really is nothing that special."

There was zero entertainment value provided by Jacky and on all accounts of what a tour guide should be (Energetic, Storytelling, Talkative) he did not meet any marks. Although Jacky was very explicit about the contract and we were clearly at fault for misinterpreting the rate, collecting even a dollar for this type of tour is a robbery. Jacky has no business being in the tourism industry and depicts a shameful portrayal of Hong Kong.

Dear Larik M: Thank you for your review. I enjoy interactive tours and indeed this was very interactive with you both. I have to say that to me it seemed that you were enjoying the tour – we covered Prince Edward, Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei some of the most local neighbourhoods in Kowloon, which is what we discussed via email as “the true, authentic side of Hong Kong’’, that was until the issue of money was raised. When it came to light that there was a currency mistake towards the end of 4 hours together, and the cost was much higher than you expected, I offered to finish the tour, and also offered you only half the cost of the tour. I felt this was more than reasonable and did not insist on full payment. I realized there was a mistake as so tried to help you at the same time and you accepted this offer. Also in four hours I realize there is a lot to cover and that you want to feel that there is value for money. I always try to show the best of Hong Kong and tell visitors the stories and history whilst gauging your reaction. This maybe shows that we were a bad fit for each other as guest and guide, and perhaps I could have asked you politely to slow down, but I felt there was never an opportunity to impart my story as the questions were very rapid and persistent. I don’t mind being tested on my knowledge of Hong Kong, especially as you had clearly travelled around Hong Kong in the 3 days prior to meeting with me, but continuously you were asking me about subjects you already knew the answer to, and I never felt I had the opportunity to express my side of Hong Kong. I always value the feedback, I take on board the currency mistake and will ensure I am explicitly clear in future. I will also do my best to set the scene better in a shorter tour of 4 hours, and explain exactly the schedule to future visitors to ensure they are completely happy with what we are about to do. If you are ever back in Hong Kong I would welcome the opportunity to show you around again.

I travel quite a lot and have never given a 5 star to any providers thus far. I used Asia tours private transfers from HK airport to my hotel and from hotel to the airport. A day before, I got a text from Jacky, the ground operator to confirm my pickup schedule. Our flight arrival was 2 hours delayed so the arrival time was mid-night instead of 10pm local time. I was kind of worry if we were going to get picked up by Asia tour private transfer. I texted Jacky after her working hours around 7pm to let her know about my arrival delay with not much hope to get her response back after working hours. Jacky ensured with me that it should not be any issue with my pickup. What a relief!!!
I also used this provider for my transfer from hotel to HK airport. My son realized 15 minutes later that he left his I-phone in the car. I texted Jacky to see if the driver could drive back to the airport knowing that the traffic was really bad so I was not sure if they could do so for us. Jacky confirmed with me that the driver was on the way back to the airport to return our phone.
I am so impressed with the excellent services Asia tours private transfer provided. I strongly recommend you to use this private transfer provider if you travel to HK.

My cousin and I had a layover in Hong Kong for a few hours and wanted to do a quick tour since this was our first time there. The only problem is that we would be in Hong Kong at 8pm so we needed a private evening tour. After doing some research I learned it is difficult to find a guide for those hours. That is why I'm soooo happy I came across Jacky's profile. I messaged him about the tour and hours and he had no problem accommodating us and was very responsive. The day of the tour he was in the exact meeting place at the airport and we started the tour right away. He was able to show us a lot of Hong Kong in a short period of time and we even stopped to grab some delicious food. I would definitely do another tour with Jacky...he was fun, personable, knowledgeable and kind. Two thumbs up!

Jacky really knows all of the great places to visit in Hong Kong--we managed to cover many highlights during our limited layover time in the city--and he got us to each stop efficiently while adding great informative explanation about each site.
Our early morning layover (on the way to Bangkok) included visits to the Peak, the city's downtown, a temple and the city's fascinating markets. Our night layover tour (on our return from Thailand) featured Kowloon's dynamic night scene with its brightly lit, crowded markets and endless variety of street food. Our college-age kids loved it.
Jacky understands how to present a compelling overview of Hong Kong and did so in just the few hours that we had! We highly recommend Jacky's tours. He also gives great tips on how to navigate the airport during your layover, including suggestions on where to eat in the airport.

We did 2 tours with Jacky -- a night market tour and day tour to Macau. As we had covered a number of the markets earlier in the day with another guide, Jacky was flexible with our night tour and took us to areas we had not already visited as well as viewing the streets all lit up at night. The areas looked completely different aglow in neon lights. He also took us to see both the good and bad sides of Hong Kong which we enjoyed. It started to drizzle and we left the markets and at our request went to visit the Ozone Bar as well as the Intercontinental. This was a treat and we enjoyed hearing Jacky talk about Hong Kong.
We went to Macau the next day with Jacky and it was fabulous! He used to live there and knew alot of the history of Macau. We walked through the old sections in the morning and ended up walking through the casinos in the afternoon. It was a great mix and he spent the right amount of time at the different places -- enough so we could see the site and wander around but not too long as to get bored. I have a food allergy and he made sure we ate a restaurant in a hotel that was used to dealing with allergies.
We were only in Hong Kong for 2 1/2 days and I am so glad that we took a day to visit Macau. The night market tour was interesting but we had seen much of the same earlier in the day (our fault -- not Jacky's). I would definitely recommend a walk through the markets at night to see the lights and all the people. It is quite amazing.

Dear Becky V: Thank you very much for your review. Understanding many other guides operate Kowloon tours but in my opinion if you are not born and breed of Kowloon there are so much more in detail that are not known to many. Thank you for allowing me to show you my neck of woods, every corner I know about the part of town is almost just like blood running through my veins, I am so attached to Kowloon that I can say I am Kowloon and I could only wish we had spent more time so I can show you more instead of drinks over a beautiful harbour view (but that was nice too and thank you). On our Macau day, one of my main concern was about your food allergy and I made sure you had to be at a right place to reduce any chances and I believed it was the best choice for us in Macau on the day. Glad you liked the histories as much as the stroll through the recent developments allowing you to understand more on why this town became such a topic in recent year. Thank you again and wish to meet once again in the near future in east coast. Take care for now.
