Visiting for the first time in 16 years. It used to be very crowded with only this observation deck, but this time it was exactly the same.
I'm tired of people barging in next to me when I'm about to take a picture. Westerners really care.
We gave up and avoided the paid peak tower and headed to the roof of Peak Galleria (free).

It has been more than 5 years since we last came to the Peak, including the no-travel Covid years. And going up the Peak is definitely in our Agenda!
We normally take the public bus up here, cheaper, last jammed and also good view along the way. Up here there are a few go-to places and one of the them will be the Lion’s Pavilion. Conspicuous with its bright red moon gate and the wonderful par anomic view behind as background. There are inscription of the Taiping Mountain Lion Pavilion on it, symbolic of the spot’s name. It offers the same aerial view of the Hong Kong Skyline and Victoria Harbour as the Peak Tower.
Just a short stop for IG and photo-taking afterwhich one can return to the Peak galleria or venture further explore nearby nature trails.

This is one of several viewpoints on Victoria Peak. Since I walked up and down and saw all the available sites and views, I can say this is the worst option for viewing Hong Kong.
The pavilion itself is located a little to the left, so the view opens from a different angle. Small space, too many tourists and very crowded.
Of course, it’s worth visiting here if you get to Victoria Peak. But this platform will in no way replace the upper platform of Sky Terrace 428.

The Lion's Pavilion is a two level structure just a couple minutes walk from the Peak Tower, where you will arrive if using the historic Peak Tram. This is a free access viewing platform with excellent views of Victoria Harbour and the city of Hong Kong below.
Just walk down small Finley Road, to your left, after exiting the Peak Tower. You'll soon see the traditional Chinese structure with a moon gate style entrance. As you enter, you'll find several rows of steps, which help distribute crowds across the viewing platform area.
There is a traditional covered pavilion area as well, which is ideal for rainy conditions. Along the sides of the Lion's Pavilion, there are steps leading to a lower level viewing platform. This level isn't highly utilised by tour groups so can be a nicer place to enjoy the views if the upper level is too crowded.
From Lion's Pavilion, you have unobstructed views of Victoria Harbour, the Hong Kong Skyline and the Kowloon Skyline. When viewing conditions are favourable, this is a wondeful spot to include in your sightseeing at The Peak. Views are still impressive here when air quality isn't great. Lastly, after dark, it doesn't matter what the air quality is like, views are just remarkable.
In the end, if you plan to visit Victoria Peak, this is a must-see spot. It is free, easily accessible from the arrival area at the Peak and offers world-class, post-card quality views of Hong Kong.

Not really a hidden secret, but as you exit The Peak Tower, after enjoying a ride on the Peak Tram, you can walk down Findlay road and enjoy a very good view of Victoria Harbor at no cost at the Lion's Pavilion. The pavilion is a short 3 or 4 minute walk, upon existing the Peak Tower. Compared to the Sky Terrace in the Peak Tower, which costs around HK$25 per adult, HK$13 per child - purchased as part of your Peak Tram ticket, the views are actually quite similar, at least looking in the direction of the harbor.
We always enjoy walking over to the Lion's Pavilion, actually preferring the view there, when we visit the Peak and recommend that visitors seek out this location as it is very near, only a few minutes walk down Findlay Rd. from the Peak Tram, Tower and Galleria area.

This is one of the great spot to grab a full (not quite but the view itself is!) view of HK
Great for couples, families or simply for everyone that wish to see the great view of HK from the top!
Don't miss this.

The views from here are great at the moment but there's construction work going on in front that may obstruct the view in months to come.this observation deck isn't very well sign posted either when you come out of the peak tower go to the left and its a minute or to walk from there. The 428 observation deck is a good alternative although it costs $48hkd.

It was 30-45 mins hiking from the peak tower where you can be reached by Peak Tram. Cars can go all the way up to the lion pavilion and we were walking the same way. Roads are neat and tidy. We saw some couples doing pre wedding photoshoot at the pavilion. The view from the pavilion was breathtaking as you were on the sky above the clouds.

What is the best way to get here if I start at Central Station via MTR?
Written December 28, 2017
When you exit Central MTR follow the signs towards Hong Kong MTR, I think we walked through a tunnel or over a pedestrian footbridge. You do not go all the way to Hong Kong MTR you need to exit towards "Exchange Square". It is to your left as you walk from Central MTR towards Hong Kong MTR. Exchange Square is an undercover Bus Terminus. You catch Bus 15 to The Peak. The bus drops you under the Galleria Shopping Centre right at The Peak. You need the exact change or use the Octopus Card - it is really simple to use.You load it with funds as you need.

hello. can you walk up here? or do you get off on the peak tram? thanks
Written February 7, 2017
You can walk, it'll takes about 90 minutes. Take the Mid-Level Escalators, it brings you, as its name suggests, to the mid level (passing SoHo, great). From the terminus you can walk :-)
