Pui O beach in Hong Kong is easily my favourite beach in Hong Kong. Located on the eastern part of Lantau Island, the beach runs along shoreline of Pui O village. The first thing that struck me about Pui O beach was how long and empty the beach looked. My previous references were Stanley beach, Shek-O beach and Big Wave... More

It was my first time to Pui O beach this weekend and I was not disappointed. Compared to beaches on the Hong Kong Island, Pui O area is cleaner, more spacious, with good facilities for food and drink, as well as showers (not amazing but functional and typical hong kong beach style). It is surrounded by relaxed fishing villages and... More

Pui O in Lantau island reserves many Cantonese fishing village structure. During holidays, many locals travel for a day trip. Plan ahead for travel as you need to take bus from Tung Chung or Mui Wo in Lantau. It is famous for shrimp paste what I call Oriental blue cheese and preserved salty fish. You will experience a different Hong... More

Myself and a lot of my friends work on Saturdays so it can be awkward to get out to the more remote but stunning beaches at Tai Long Wan for camping. Instead, we catch the ferry to Mui Wo on Lantau island, hop on a bus towards Pui O (3M or 1). Pui O is a great alternative and its... More

This is a great place to walk along the beach but debris constantly washed up in summer. However, you are away from the crowds here.

I highly recommend you to stay in Pui O campsite. It's located on the Pui O beach and it's free of charge. It has showers, toilet, BBQ places, small shop and restaurants nearby. You can easily reach HK island by bus + ferry or bus + metro. It's definitely better to stay in this campsite than in tiny rooms of... More

Most visitors comes to Hong Kong for her busy streets and skylines, but if you want a break from the hustle and bustle, Pui O is a nice getaway. As the matter of fact, the entire South Lantau is a getaway from usual Hong Kong. South Lautau is a restricted area for vehicles, which means you get a lot less... More

Lantau island is a peaceful haven away from central Hong Kong. Most cars are banned on this side of the island, so to get around you hike, rent a bike, or get on one of the several regular buses that go between Tung Chung, Mui Wo and Tai O. It's conveniently near, but over the mountain from the airport. Strung... More
