Clearwater Bay in one of Hong Kong’s treasures and for anyone living there is lucky to have this in their backyard. CWB beach No. 2 is only 30-40 mins drive from Central and can also easily be reached by public transport (MTR to Tseung Kwan O) and then minibus 103M straight to the beach. Minibus 103 and KMB 91 also go there). The water can live up to its name and in April the visibility was easily 30 feet. The beach is nice and there are fantastic hiking trails around as well. If in HK visiting take the trip out (does get crowded in summer) or even as a resident make the effort. It’s worth it.

We visited the Clear Water Bay second beach in August 2011 and went with two small children (aged 6 and 7). There are two beaches in Clear Water Bay: the first beach, which is one stop before the bus terminus on the 91 bus route; and the second beach. We only visited the second beach so I can only comment on that one.
Getting to the beach is fairly straight forward: take the 91 bus from Diamond Hill MTR station to the last stop. The terminus at Clear Water Bay is the car park for the second beach and it is about 30mins - 45 mins ride depending on the traffic.
The beach itself is very clean and well looked after with lovely clean sand and crystal clear water. We went there on a Saturday in August (35 degrees celcius) and it was not that busy. There are some diving platforms a short way out which are fun to swim out to and the whole area is protected by a net which keeps out sharks as well as large jellyfish.
There were several life-guards present the whole time that we were there and they watched from the beach and also had a large raft that one of them rowed around the water in making sure that all the bathers were safe.
There is a shop there that sells cool drinks and ice-cream and it also rents out large umbrellas as well as inflatable rings.
As well as that, there is a large fresh-water shower / changing area where swimmers can shower and change. There is a flight of steps back to the car park directly from the showers so you do not need to walk on the sand after showering and can get back to the bus stop without getting any sand on your feet!
Overall, I would recommend this beach to anyone who loves sunbathing on the sand or swimming in the sea. The water here is very clean and the whole area is surrounded by countryside - it really is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Kowloon / Hong Kong Island!

The beach is located in Sai Kung of New Territories of HK. The public transportation was very convenient that visitors could take minibus 103M from Tseung Kwan O metro station or bus 91 from Diamond Hill metro station.

We went there after hiking the High Junk Peak Country Trail. The weather was nice (26C), and we stayed there for a couple of hours. The facilites were great (indoor/outdoor showers, changing rooms, toilets, ice cream shop), and the sand was nice. Only problem was the quality of the water and the amount of people - the latter is to be expected though, as we visited on a Saturday.

Great sand beach. You can get there from Tseung Kwan O MTR (minibus 103M until terminus). One alternative if you like hiking is to go down at Ng Fai Tin and follow the hike on the right of the road. Great views on Sai Kung, Clear Water Bay and Junk Bay (towards Hong Kong Island). After you have seen Clear Wate Bay, go down on the left, then on the left again when you have joined the main road. Now you can enjoy a good swim at Clear Water Bay. ;)

103 bus from behind laguna city kowloon ,should experence buy climbing the rocky area close to water and by requesting the fishermen to give a ride in their boat and please bargain as they charge per person nearly 50 hkd. please carry food as there is no proper food and water facility. The last bus may be buy 7 pm so please leave the beach before that as its very difficult to get any other transport

Beach no.2 is very nice with clean sand and almost plastic free water. There is obviously a lot of effort made to keep the place clean.
There are good shower and toilet/changing places, but be warned that views on shower etiquette differ somewhat from Western norms.
There are no real eating places on the beach so if there for the long haul bring your own packed lunch and drinks. Some drinks and ice creams are available from the one concession which also rents out beach umbrellas.

An easily accessible bathing and tanning beach. A lovely location for a family, group of friends or a solo trip. Public transport from Diamond Hill on a motorbus, and mini buses from Kwun Tong and Tseung Kwan O.

Went there on a Sunday in Jan. Temperature 76 F.
We took MTR to diamond hill station, had lunch and bought fruits/nicknacks at the Hollywood plaza which is connected to the station. Then took double decker bus no.91 from bus station right in front of the plaza (on the ground level under the building structure). Bus took about 50 minutes and ended at the second beach. Bus every 20 minutes. There are not that many steps but it can be a bit of a challenge if you have a stroller (we have climbed a lot more steps than these with a double stroller with our two kids when they were little).
Beach was one of the cleanest we have been anywhere in the world. Has nice shady area for people who get sun burn like me and also sunny area for those who prefer sun. Saw 3 janitors going up and down the beach picking up trash and combing sand. There are bathrooms at the bus stop and on the beach.
Swimming area is roped up. Practically no waves and shallow. Very safe for kids. Saw only 2 speed boats floating in the bay.
This beach exceeded our expectation.
