My wife and I met our Walk Hong Kong guide (Susan Braun) at the ferry terminal in Hong Kong. We spent some time walking around a couple of the attractions close to the water and then we headed off to the markets. We were with another couple, also from the US, and we had a great time. We visited the... More

Martin took a friend and I round this trail, giving a fascinating no holds barred insight into the battle for Hong Kong at the end of 1941. I had previously walked the route and read the materials on the trail, but having someone with the depth of knowledge that he has about the battle to take us round and share... More

I did this walk with my daughter (18), guided by Martin Heyes. The company was simple to communicate with and responded quickly to questions. Meeting instructions were very clear. Martin is a very friendly and knowledgeable battlefield guide who is able to communicate with both experts and novices. His dedication to the subject is clear, as is his knowledge of... More

Ironically despite booking these tours through Get Your Guide and Viator I ended up choosing 3 tours with the same company. They are very high quality. Martin started by giving me an intro tour in my first morning giving an excellent perspective as an ex colonial I then went in two hikes with Gabby to Dragons Back and Sai Kung... More

Visited July, 2016. Martin Heyes lead our family on a tour of Stanley covering locations and topics relating to internee’s at the Stanley Prisoner of War Camp, where my grandfather was held during WW2. Martin was clearly very well prepared and had researched what we had asked with great detail, giving a fascinating insight into life in the Camp; he... More

I am a World War II enthusiast. I contacted Walk Hong Kong to book the Shin Mung Redoubt hike. My emails were answer quickly and I booked my hike 2 months before my arrival into Hong Kong. My guide, Martin Hayes, was a very knowable historian of the battle of Hong Kong. We sat down to have coffee and Martin... More

If you're looking for a tour from a man who has seen it, done it and lived it, Martin's your man. From his over quarter century experience of living and working in Hong Kong, he has a wealth of facts and insight about all the goings on and developments of the vibrant city that is Hong Kong. We're not sure... More

My buddy and I were fortunate enough to get on Martin Heyes' schedule for a WW2 tour of the Wong Nai Chung Gap. It was a highlight of our week in Hong Kong. Being both quite interested in that period of history, especially the Canadian angle (biased as we are), Martin's energy, insights and stories were a real treat. He... More

I did the WW2 history walk with Martin Heyes on a solo visit to Hong Kong. Martin is a fantastic guide, who can provide a wealth of detail outside of the tour's advertised content, as I peppered him with all sorts of other questions, and we swapped travel stories along the way. As a long-time HK police officer, he had... More

What a great experience to enjoy a very beautiful and green Hong Kong when I had been used to just the bustle of commerce in downtown Kowloon and Central. I did 2 beautiful hikes--Dragon back and Pyramid hill. Stunning views and just the right level of difficulty. Gabi could not have been nicer, more helpful, and more informative. I recommend... More
