All the big brands (Nike, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance, Puma, Converse) can be found up and down this section of Fa Yuen St, which is locally known as ‘Sneaker St’. Prices range from small discounts up to half price or more.
If you’re after the very latest colour or style, then you can expect to get only a small saving but if you’re simply looking to get some new runners then the savings can be big.
Most of the shops offer lower prices if you buy more than one pair (which is pretty easy to do). I recently bought a pair of Adidas runners and a pair of Superstars for less than half what I would expect to pay elsewhere (#87 Fa Yuen St).
The shoes here are the real deal. The shops are licenced sellers and the shoes are all displayed with labels that clearly show the price and sale price so you can compare prices easily. However be aware that if you go one street over to Ladies Market on Tung Choi St, you will definitely be looking at fakes.
‘Sneaker St’ does not run the full length of Fa Yuen St. It’s the part that runs between Argyle and Dundas Streets, parallel to Ladies Market. There is also a bit of spill-over into some of the side streets like Shantung and Nelson St. As it is so close to Ladies Market, it’s very easy to combine the two in a big shopping trip.
Shopping here can definitely be overwhelming the first time you go, especially if it's a hot day. The shops are air conditioned and you can sit to try on shoes but nevertheless, the sheer number of shops and variety of shoes can leave you feeling exhausted. It’s best to have an idea of what you want before you go and take a pair of your own socks for trying on shoes. If you’re buying for kids who are not with you, make sure you know their size in US, UK and European sizing. Even better if you can take one of their shoes with you (or an outline of their foot) for comparison.
Be aware that nothing will open until relatively late in the morning. There’s not much point going over before 11am as neither Sneaker nor Ladies Market will be open before then. On the upside, they both stay open late into the night and many of the shops will still be open until 10pm.
GETTING THERE: Public transport on the MTR is by far the easiest and cheapest way to get there. Catch the MTR to Mong Kok station and take Exit D3 which will bring you up very close to Fa Yuen St (see photo of map below).

We've been there but in the morning, might be around 10/11 am and all stores are still closed, they're still preparing to open. So sad, I forgot to search it since we're on a rush cuz it's our last day. We still took a round hoping that at least a store is open, unfortunately none so we just got contented by looking at the shoes' thru the glass walls. Hoping that we can go back there again at the right time.

Wow , sneakers street alright, so if you are after sneakers this is the place to shop. It is just shop after shop full of sneakers so just pick one. They all got the same prices so it doesn't really matter were you go, you will get some good bargains here and if you buy more then a couple of pairs you can bargain with them and get a good deal.

Plenty of choice of all the major brands like Nike, Adidas, Converse, Vans etc. If the first shop doesn't have your colour, size etc, just go to the next one! You will get a pair of shoes for half the Australian price.

We caught the MTR to Mong Kok and followed the map to Sneaker Street. Lots and lots of shoe shop, selling the same thing. Overpriced big brands. Very few bargains to be had. Always know your price before shopping, you wouldn't want to get caught up in the atmosphere. Interesting but no bargains. Was handy in that it was only a street away from the Ladies Market!

We accidentally stumbled on this street and only realised where we were when we saw shops after shops of shops selling sneakers. This region is a sneaker-fan's heaven as they have an amazing range of sneakers. I've read that the prices are not cheaper than elsewhere in the world but I think one would go for the range.

I went there during a business trip in Hong Kong. I was living near the sneaker street and I spent a complete day there.
As a true sneakerhead I had probably too much expectation.
I collect sneakers for a long time and I was willing to find new pairs for my collection.
I was really disappointing with what I found.
Half of the shops had the exact same shoes and I had big doubt about the authenticity. I found an air Jordan shop who had some nice models and they were legit but they tried to sell me some at an incredible price so I left.
Definitely a place for tourists who do not care about getting the same shoes as everybody else and who are not picky about authenticity.

Sneaker street in Hong Kong is filled to the brim with sneaker shops. Every few steps leads to an entirely different store. However, it must be noted that most of these stores carry the same sets of nike and adidas sneakers at the same prices and for that reason, it is not really worth checking out all of the stores if you are looking for a rare pair of sneakers.
If you are a sneakerhead looking for rarer pairs of shoes, you have to look for the store KixDreams, they have a good selection of shoes (Yeezys, Jordans, they even have a pair of Nike Air Adapt BBs, just to name a few) and are priced just below the resale values. Other than that however, nothing else is really worth checking out if all you are after are the rarer pairs of shoes.
However, if you are just looking to get a decent pair of shoes, you should look for the stores hosting sales. I was able to find many pairs of good shoes (Nike Cortez, Nike Blazers, Adidas NMDs, Vans Old Skools and lots of football cleats) well under retail price at the stores on sale. It must also be noted that we made our trip to Sneaker Street in the morning, because of the large crowds that always flock to the area during the later hours and it was already pretty crowded. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience to be in Sneaker Street, especially considering that right beside it is the Ladies’ Market, a great place to shop for things other than shoes.

I came here with super high expectations!
I am OBSESSED with sneakers (Nike fan) and thought I would see some of the best and the most original sneakers around. I even expected to spend a stupid amount of money thinking I would see something wild and one of a kind..... it was actually not what I thought.. 😓
It was just Street’s full of the sneaker shops with THE SAME STOCK!! nothing one off or original. If you see something you like you can buy the same thing in the other 12 stores on the same street. I must admit I took a lot of sneaker pics-but nothing blew my mind as I thought it would.

This is definitely the place to shop for sports shoes... unless you’re a Bigfoot like me. If you foot size is in the region of 11-13US (44-47 Euro) you’ll struggle to find your size.
I went to about 15 stores before I found what I wanted in my size (13).
My partner on the other hand had a very wide choice at size US 9.
I’d definitely recommend a rummage through the stores even if you’re a larger size shoe, you might get lucky.

Hi, I was wondering if is save to go shopping around Mongkok few days before Chinese New Year. Are the shop working as usual? I would appreciate any info, I haven’t been in Hong Kong for three months.
Written January 13, 2020
I don't know exactly for the working schedule in Chinese New Year for those shops because based on information that i browsed there are many activities will be held in HK during that occasion such as fireworks, parades, festivals, etc. Means, there will be a lot of crowd there so logically there will be a lot of stores open as well to hold shopping festival, great discount, and so on

Hi DeQueen,
As far as I'm aware they are legitimate branded shoes, they are not imitation.

Hi happysheila, sorry for the late reply and it may be too late. Yes they have western sizes, but as soon as you go past 10-11 for men, it's very hard to find. There's only a couple of shops that stock over that size, and that may be only 1 or 2 styles.
Written January 3, 2019
Underarmour shoes available out here? Are the brands genuine? The authenticity of branded shoes I mean.
Written August 12, 2018
Plenty of options including Underarmour. There are literally mare than 100 shops so you will need to choose wisely. Stick to the larger reputable sports stores and you will be ok. There's not much of a difference in price between the stores so spend a few dollars more to be safe,
Hope this helps.

Hi there, honestly, I'm not sure. However, the advice I received from my friends who been there is to visit the recognised store for purchase. This means that if they are push cart stalls or street stalls without any signage, don't get it from there. Choose those with shop front, either the brand's shop or recognise retail store that sells different brands. That should keep you safe from the fake ones. Hope this helps!
