Hung Shing Temple, Kau Sai Chau, Sai Kung, Hong Kong
Dec 2011
The Hung Shing Temple is located in the southern part of the Kau Sai Chau Island in the Kau Sai Village. It is the only temple in the village which is now very few vilagers stay there. The temple was built before 1889, constructed in grey bricks with a timber roof frame. The temple has been renovated four times since 1949. She won the "Outstanding Project" in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage 2000 Awards. Previously a Grade III Historic Building, the temple was declared a monument on November 15, 2002.

Usually the whole village will get very crowded when the Hung Shing Festival (洪聖誕) is celebrated there on the 13th day of the 2nd month in Chinese calendar.

A scheduled ferry service connects Sai Kung Town and the ferry pier of the Public Golf Course. Other parts of the island may be reached by privately-owned boats from Sai Kung Pier. The Hong Kong Jockey Club runs three Solar Sailor ferries to the island per hour. Also, Kau Sai Village may be reached by an approximately 40 minute walk along the Water Services supply line (for safety reasons, walking onto the golf courses is not advised).
