Tsim Sha Tsui is one of the major tourist and shopping areas of Hong Kong. With a high concentration of hotels, retail shops and commercial offices – it’s a busy and bustling neighborhood that never sleeps. On the surface, Tsim Sha Tsui seems to only feature an abundant number of high-end retail stores selling designer brands and jewelry, owing to its popularity with high-budget shopping tours. However, it also contains a diverse range of attractions for the entire family. Whether taking a walk in Kowloon Park, exploring museums, going shopping or grabbing a bite to eat – Tsim Sha Tsui has something for everyone.

Heritage & High Tea
Jan 2021
For over 100 years, this colonial building was the Headquarters for Hong Kong’s Marine Police. Following a glamorous make-over, it now houses a hotel, high tea in the Heritage Parlour and a small number of luxury shops, high-end restaurants and bars.
Built in 1884, the main building included a stable block and signal house, all of which have been retained. The original doors on the stables have even been preserved.
As you wander through, there are signs highlighting historical points of interest. The carrier pigeon houses caught my eye. They hark back to the pre-mobile phone days when communication relied on wrapping a hand-written message in a tiny capsule, strapping it to a pigeon’s leg, setting it free and then sitting back and waiting for its return.
Similarly, the Ball Tower used a simple but bygone method of time-keeping. A ball was mounted on a pole and at 1pm sharp every day, the ball dropped. The ships in the harbour kept a sharp eye on it and as soon as it dropped, they could re-set their chronometers to the correct time. Nowadays you can’t see the Ball Tower from the harbour at all. At the time, the tower and main building stood on the waterfront but aggressive land reclamation has pushed the shoreline a long way back.
'1881 Heritage' is an easy spot to visit because it is only a couple of minutes walk from the Star Ferry.

Lunar New Year decoration
Jan 2020
1881 Heritage is a nicely preserved historic building in Tsim Sha Tsui. It is now an upscale arcade with some nice restaurants. The Lunar New Year decoration is lovely.

Fancy Mall
Dec 2019
Unlike other malls, this one does not count on coolness but on historic style and architecture, all set in a beautiful environment. Very nice shopping experience. Most stores are high-end and expensive. Avoid if you are on a tight budget.

Old barracks and stunning Xmas decorations
Dec 2019 • Couples
We wandered through 1881 heritage in hopes of finding a drink and a little bit of a late lunch. But we arrived at high tea so we passed. But we did walk around and it is a bit of history on what used to be the waterfront. It is basically located next to the Peninsula Hotel and has a lot of high-end shops.

Luxury jewelry stores in a historic setting
Oct 2019
If you are in the Kowloon area, this mall might be a fun place to wander around if you appreciate luxury shops coupled with beautiful historic architecture. It is walking distance from The Peninsula hotel, K11 Musea Mall, & the Rosewood Hotel. The shops here are primarily jewelry & watch stores, not many clothing store options.

In terms of shopping, there are better malls with more variety of store options. This mall is great if you like to soak in the unique architecture & appreciate an outdoor mall setting.

If high-end jewelry shopping isn't your think & want to kill some extra time at 1881, there is a restaurant & bar with a very quaint setting located at the top of the mall. They have a great patio with views out into the city.

The square and the place is very nice and offers some space to stick around.
They did make a nice park and surrounding there and at the time bell tower you can listen to classic music and read / hear about history.
At the place are mostly luxury shops and expensive restaurants so for most people no good place for dining and shopping, besides if that worth visiting.
A subway tunnel could lead you there from the HK culture centre next to the promenade in Tsim Sha Tsui

Temporary interactive Silver Spitfire on display
May 2019 • Couples
This elegant and historic building formerly the Marine Police Headquarters and the original site of the Time Ball now with a veranda famous for lunch and afternoon teas and lots of high end shops has a new attraction – in the forecourt there is a sponsored exhibit, probably almost half to scale of a magnificent silver spitfire – interactive but closed because of the rain when we visited I understand in exchange for your name and email address you can mount a set of steps and briefly sit in the cockpit and have a memorable picture taken which will be in your mail when you get home – on your way if you are walking between Tsim Sha Tsui and the Star Ferry and worthy of a stop and spending some time here
