The Yat Tung Shopping Centre is a small Link operated commercial property at the Yat Tung Estate in Tung Chung. Here you will find a handful of small local shops, convenient stores, casual eateries, food shops and wet market catering to the Yat Tung residents. It is all rather old school, which can be interesting to see if you want a glimpse at what much of Hong Kong was like in decades past.

Not really a place for visitors to focus on but a place you may end up passing by if doing the Tung Chung Art Walk or making your way between the Tung Chung MTR Station and the start of the Ngong Ping Rescue Trail or Ancient Tung O coastal trail. Otherwise, the more conveniently located, modern and useful venue in Tung Chung is the CityGate Outlet shopping mall just next to the MTR Station.

The shopping centre in Yat Tung is your humble and local place where to find everything one needs for the daily living. Supermarkets, convenience stores, boutiques, banks etc.
The star however is the new wet market which was completely renovated and re-opened in August 2016.
The renovation took quite a while but it was well for the wait! The interior received much TLC so the wet market has now a lovely homey feeling.
Architects and designers created the atmosphere of an old local Hong Kong shopping street/district of the 1950's. It is just fantastic!

Although the shopping centre is quite average and bland, the market is quite remarkable in the effort they have made to make it look nostalgic.

Now that it's famous there are a lot more out of town visitors.

The Yat Tung wet market reopened this week with a new feel and looked. Now named Hong Kong market and is very open and lively selling fresh seafood, meats, fruits and vegetables. If you enjoy Hong Kong's wet markets then this one is worth the visit - new and clean and I was very impressed and will be returning often.

This a mall mainly for local residents. While the shops are unremarkable, the wet market is a replica of Kowloon Walled City. It is quite interesting to wander around.

Yat Tung wet market is now clean and modern. The prices are still on a higher side.
At least it looks very safe to buy stuffs from here now.
I can see the small food stalls which are quite busy.
Live seafood selection is still not so extensive.

The wet market has repened with a nostalgia theme of Hong Kong in the 60s. The layout, fitting and decor all made to look like a typical Kowloon street in that era.

There are now tourists just to see the market, and the stall holders are also loving the new "nostalgia" appeal. Old style snacks along the snack street outside the market.

Easiest way to get to is by NLB no.38 bus from Tung Chung MTR. And there are plenty of carpark spaces.
