Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter is a unique fishing village that blends the old and new. The traditional lifestyle shared among fishermen or Tanka people with many antique junks and sampans are juxtaposed against fleets of luxury yachts and towering skyscrapers. The typhoon shelter is also home to many intangible cultural heritage, all being traces of the humble beginnings of Hong Kong when it was still a small fishing village.

Let us bring you back in time as you hop onboard our unique sampan boats, we will cruise through 13 different local landmarks around the charming Aberdeen fishing village. While cruising, try immerse yourself in the area’s rich culture and history, through our exquisitely designed audio guide, where you will listen to folk-tales, lullabies and narratives of the area. Nice outlet but the hoards of mainland Chinese who sit on the floor re-packing their suitcases, or barging onto the MTR, ruin the experience.

Inside the open market area, stall M18 sells steamed buns and other dim sum items. Don't know about other stuff but this is my favorite place to get fresh steamed buns. They are so so good! Light and fluffy unlike other places. And I have tried many all over the world. At about $7HK each, it is worth the find. I have been here on and off for 15 years when on business in HK and this place is still awesome each time! Try it if you are in Tung Chung metro stop.

Wet market renovated to less wet and more upscale. Less of that wet market smell too. The mall is being squeezed because of the lack of rental space at massively successful Citygate and shops are wanting to move here.

The new market downstairs is just opened in the last few days. The set up is modern but lack of character. The seafood market is very expensive. A lot of shops are relocated left, right and centre. The location is all confusing. I do not even think that this plaza is better designed than 20 years ago!
