I am not sure how easy this site is to visit by land, but if you are on a Yangtze River Cruise, almost all of the cruise ships will offer this as an optional tour when they dock for a few hours. It is well worth it. In fact, it's far more interesting than the boring cruise through the boring... More

This is so interesting! the stories are impressive. You have to go up an incline for a ways but then you have to a lot of steps through out the sight. It is has a lot of beauty, along with other things which are touristy such as getting your picture taken after crossing the love (marriage bridge) although fun and... More

This is well worth a visit - a beautiful setting, with lots of (welcome) shade from trees and plants in some areas. The history of the site is very interesting, and there's plenty of fun things to do such as crossing the bridges and the challenges to get to the underworld. Be warned - it does involve a lot of... We did this tour off our Yangtze River cruise. Our guide, although a little hard to understand, was very informative and took us to all areas of the site. Would recommend

Well it was supposed to be optional but due to issues with river currents and ports we missed the included one and this became the included tour! Yay!! we didn't have to pay extra (but we were prepared to) :) When we got off the boat, we walked up the stairs to the dock, got on a little electric cart... More

This stop was included as part of a river cruise. It's a bit of a steep climb, but worth the effort. Take is slowly and admire the view along the way. Our good guide took us through the three tests, and the balance on one leg test and the bridge over troubled waters. We all survived and went from hell... More

There are some steps and hills to climb, but it's not too tiring. It's a temple with lots of big statues and wall paintings. The temple is huge, simple, and very beautiful, giving off an omnipresent atmosphere. There are rows of statues of demons and Chinese Buddhist figures. There are also two bridges, and people claim that if you fall,... More

This was an optional Cruise excursion. We were told that the local guide would speak English; it turned out that everybody else understood Chinese! We took the Yangtze cruise in 1996, before the dam went up, and at that time, it was thought that the Ghost City would be under water and as luck would have it, we could not... More
