Major Shopping District
Nov 2017
GYQ is one of the major shopping districts in CQ. It has numerous malls and department stores, a ton of food options (from street foot markets to sit-down restaurants), and fun for all ages.

Shopping - there is one upscale shopping mall that has a few brand-name stores, such as Gucci, Zegna, etc. Do note that luxurious goods are heavily taxed in China, and foreigners, who visit China, will not get tax refund like most of the European countries. Unless one finds something that’s not available else where, do not get it in China.

Other malls tend to be more reasonably priced. Do bargain regardless! Start with half of the price that is offered then negotiate.

Food - A F’ING TON! Most food in CQ are extremely spicy, and I wasn’t able to handle much. Only sampled very few kinds, I cannot make the best recommendation here. One thing to note - try at various locations! Do not eat at the same spot. There is one good street call “Hao Chi Jie” (literally the foodie’s Street), and one can find all local specialties there :) Spot by if time allows.

Transportation is absolutely terrible. Take a taxi or train if one can figure out the system. Do not rent a car; it is very difficult to navigate the street in CQ. From the US, I cannot drive here.

Recommend time to spend - one afternoon plus dinner :)

Huaxin Street Paradise Walk
Nov 2017 • Couples
If you intend to visit the Huaxin Street Paradise Walk Shopping area, alight at this MRT Station. We alighted one station before this at Huaxin Station which is a residential area.

There are quite a few malls here with open walking space in between. Many booths with great sales were set up during our visit with a Yoga Event taking place. A nice outdoor park is there for some photo shoot and of course shopping and dining. This area is more for locals but no harm in getting a feel of the place if you have the time.

The more established shopping area is at the PLA Clock Tower monument surrounded by many more malls with Hangya Cave 10 minutes walk away.

Don't bother. Go to jianfanbei instead
Aug 2017 • Solo
Shopping street. Few malls and department stores. But nothing special. Jianfanbei much better and more choices. Has it's own metro station but unless you're in walking distance don't bother

Jiefangbei is better
Oct 2015 • Solo
Between this and JafB, I prefer the latter as it is a longer street with more shops. There are many tourists attractions near JFB too.
