I was hoping for more history from this than it offerred. Mostly it was shopping. My group appeared to be the only Westerners while we were there. The food stalls were interesting, but the retails shops were pretty standard. On the day we went there...More

Yes it is often crowded and touristy, but it is worth a couple of hours to survey the architecture of the older city, see local delicacies being prepared, and there are ample free tastings if you are so inclined. Some areas are nicely treed, and...More

Wide variety of traditional food available and lots of interesting shopping. There is also a concert hall which puts on a good variety show.

We spent about an hour here which was enough. It was fascinating walking around and seeing all of the shops and stores. Live scorpions, stinking hotpots so brutal the smell will make you gag, comb shops (and people dressed up as combs?!), cheap souvenirs, bakeries,...More

Our Chongqing guide took us to Cicikou in the afternoon after lunch. It is a quaint little town with lots of curio shops and food places. There are all sorts of crafts on display, including weaving, tea pouring, comb-making, leaf painting etc. We spent a...More

Let's be honest: most of the "old towns" are basically shopping malls presented as if this is how people used to live. And it may well be that many of these are representative, but the main purpose of these places is to sell goods. That...More

About 30-40 min by car/taxi outside out Chongqing, it is worth the visit. Tons of shops, traditional & more contemporary shops, you can find pretty much everything. Great place to buy souvenirs. For a better experience, go early in the morning (9h - 10h) as...More

this place was packed when we visited, which was tough given the narrow streets. the main street is basically lined with shophouses; rather uninteresting. there are some buildings of historical interest but the narrow streets and hilly terrain makes it rather tedious to cover. it...More

Very crowded area but many shops selling the same things. If you enjoy crowds shovingyou rudely (and the local Chinese do that extremely well) and end up buying nothing, then you should not miss this place.

We toured this village and found it very quant and lively. We had the best coffee at a restaurant on the first floor. The market sells many local food and handicraft items and is lively and entertaining. Worth a visit!
