Chongqing is the starting/ending point of Yangtze River Cruise. Most people come to Chongqing for Three Gorges cruise. It is a good idea to take a one-day private Chongqing tour before or after your Yangtze River cruise, and book your Yangtze River...more

I initially was suspicious of internet travel agents. However, I've finally decided to pull the trigger and place an order for the Yangtze River cruise offered by Vivian for this company. She took care of everything and included the cruise information. We've had a very...More
It was not easy to make a first trip to foreign country, but Riley made it simple and painless. She gave competitive quote for both the cruises and the local tour. She provided all information and answered all my questions thoroughly. Highly recommended.
To book with Yangtze River Cruises (based in Chengdu) end up to be the best option for our holidays. We wanted to visit China. Since it would be our first time in this gigantic country, we intended to get a broad sample of the country....More
We did not see the best along the three gorges

I want to start off saying that parts of the boat trip were OK. But there were plenty of things that didn’t live up to the Luxury cruise we were lead to believe. And after looking at the pictures here on Tripadvisor, that’s the cruise...More
After a mix up with our reservation, we ended up on the Century Star - not the Century Legend or Paragon. I think this ship used to be part of the Century cruise line. However, I think it might be a separate company now.
Spent 4 nights on this boat as part of a Wendy Wu tour of China. Was told beforehand that this could be a 'damp' experience and friends had found the rooms/cloths to be damp during the time onboard. This was not the case! The weather...More
The Yangtze River Cruise (we were on the China Goddess 1 Ship) was extraordinary... Yichang to Chongqing. The Three Gorges Dam site and ship lift is an engineering wonder and the Mini Three Gorges was absolutely stunning, especially travelling there on sampans.

I'm not sure which cruise 'boats' you might have access to, but the one we were on, and the 4 or more others that we saw tagging along with us on the river cruise, were certainly NOTHING like a 'cruise experience' you would get elsewhere, even on a 'Carnival' cruise line.
The cruise we bought was a stand-alone add-on to our 2 week tour package, so I can't blame the quality of our 'cruise' on a Tour Company.
Granted, these river cruises have breath-taking views, but they seem designed to provide shore excursions everyday to inject tourist dollars into the local economies.
You might have to seriously lower your expectations if you want to enjoy the cruise!
IMHO, attempting to stay in your suite for the cruise will be a waste of your time as all ships we saw appeared to be stale-smelling and 'long in tooth.'
I stayed on-board one day while 99% of the passengers (including my group) went on a shore excursion: so I can safely recommend AGAINST doing that.

In June we plan to spend several days in Shanghai, then take an upstream Yangtze River cruise from YiChang to Chongqing. What would be the best way to get from Shanghai to Yichang for an evening boarding time? There seem to be only a couple of flight possibilities although ctrip.com had a couple of options. Is there a train from Shanghai to Yichang? Where online could I research train schedules? Thanks so much for any info!

I think the train would arrive too late for you to make your ferry connection. There's only 1 choice, the K252/K253 leaving Shanghai at 1539 and arriving Yichang 2019 the next day. If you want to take this train, you'll have to stay 1 more day in Yichang.

Planning to book bus tour/Yangtze River cruise.. Tour covers the Great wall, Xian and other provinces, the Yangtze river. I don't believe it is a shopping tour, however, there are stops at the Tea plantation, Jade Factory, Silk factory. The representative reassured us that it was an Educational Tour not a pressure shopping tour. For theTA members who have done this type of tour , please let me know what to expect. I am interested in generally how long are the bus rides, if there washroom on...More

These are fancy names that they give to shopping stops. We do not know what tour you are on so we have no idea about washrooms, etc.
