All freshly revamped this promenading area is particularly lovely at night, especially when the cruise ships are moored alongside. The many bridges spanning both rivers are all illuminated as well. Can be quite a romantic stroll with the right person

Chaotianmen Square is a great place to start your tour of the city. It is where 2 rivers meet and you will not only get good views of activity on the famous Yangtze River, but also this huge city built on hills. Nearby is the Exhibition Centre where you can see a large scale model of the city and surrounding suburbs/hills to really get your bearings. My guide in Chongqing for 2 days was Kaining Zhou who spoke excellent English and I highly recommend. His email address is zhoukn@aliyun.com. As the city is not really on the tourist circuit, English language and signage is not there like in Shanghai or Beijing so a guide is essential if you have limited time.

we danced there and look down the Yangtze River and Jialing River from the square.
And of course you could choose to down to the square to the beach. you also could sit on the steps.
It is very beautiful in night coz there are lots of lights.

We caught the metro to this area.
Was good to have a wander around at night, especially to see all the buildings lit up by the river.

Can see the rivers diverge. That's better at the day time. However it is more beautiful to see at night with the lights shining

It is very nice view.The square looks like deck of vessel from another side of Yangtze River.It is very magnificent.Especially I recommed visitors to attend river curise.You can see many beautiful sights,building with different color lights.As it is mountain at the side of Yangtze and Jialing river,you will feel this is gorgeous city.

There are so many steps there, crazy.
But it is the best place to watch the Yangtze River and Jialing River.

Good place to start your visit in Chongqing. I recommend you to go there in the evening when you can see plenty of shining lights and Chinese people dancing at the square. This is one of the only places in Chongqing downtown with umbrella selling hawkers. No need to spend time more than half an hour.
