I have never been in such a crush of people before but all were polite, happy and enjoying themselves. The streets are narrow with interesting shops and eating places. You could get lost so must keep track of the direction you go in.

Not a typical high rise Chinese city. Ancient town, lots of vendors. Pork and "sticky rice" a speciality there.More quaint than many places in China. A good change of pace

The architecture was very nice, more recent considering the long history, and had a fun range of shops and restaurants. Many were selling the ubiquitous hot pot seasoning packs as well as local snacks, so of course we got several to take back to Beijng...More

Like a lot of "ancient" towns in China. Small alleyways with lots of tourist shops and street snacks. Nice for a walk around and getting lost in the small lanes.

This is the place to be for the sights sounds, tastes and smells of old china, not a large area, but the people are friendly even to white devils like myself

Walked through area and stopped for lunch on Wendy Wu China tour. Really interesting to see how China was before they built all the tower blocks. Tried the tofu beating and locals were extremely friendly We westerners were the "freak show"

This is worth visiting. It does give you a flavour of ' old China' before the cultural revolution. They now live in high rise flats , so the contrast is amazing.. There are crowds and crowds of people, so be prepared. If you are fair...More

This place is a great place to visit, I was amazed when I first toured it. When I was there they were still updating and renovating certain parts of it. I think this is the Qing Dynasty era.
