It is okay, mostly graffiti, no street art
Sep 2019
It felt like a hipster area with many milk bubble tea shops. The art consisted mostly of graffiti, not street art. Doodle street is a fitting name. This is not the place to see large murals or high-quality street art (i.e. Berlin, London, New York, etc.). However, it is still an interesting and artistic area to visit. The art pieces and colors really brightened up the neighborhood. Still, I think it needs a refresher, because most of the works looked washed out.

How to get to the Huangjueping Doodle Street?

Take the metro (line 2) to Yangjiaping. Walk down the stairs and go the bus stop. Look for buses no. 223, 244 or 823. Get off at Huangjueping Zheng Jie Zhan. Just look out of the window. When you start seeing art, it is time to get off. Bus is 2 yuan, cash only (bus drivers don't have change). Hope this helps!

Must see
Mar 2019
This is a must see for all who visit Chongqing, in some spots literally everything is covered in graffiti, the apartment buildings, walls, sidewalks and even the street benches. Wherever you turn in a colorful photo opp. Although we were the only tourist in this suburban street, we felt safe walking through all the streets to make sure we didn’t miss a single doodle.

Must have been nice

Most of the graffitis have washed out, so they don't look very good. There are some nice sculptures in the arts school so you can spend a couple of hours at most in the area.
We got there by metro, got off at Yangjiaping (line 2) station and then took a taxi to the Fine Arts School (it cost around 15RMB).

Trash

Don't waste your time. It's a long taxi ride to see a mess of scribbles. Anything that had any artistic value has been scribbled over. Lots of apartment buildings are painted but it's nothing special.

Largest doodle art street in China
Jul 2016 • Couples
Huangjueping Doodle Art Street, is a little of the beaten path for tourists but is well worth the visit- both to see the amazing artwork which covers the buildings in this area but also to enjoy the local artistic atmosphere.

The doodle street took my boyfriend and I over an hour to get to with public transport from the city centre of Chongqing, taking the metro and a bus but the route is relatively straight forward.

From the bus, you will see where the art street begins- you simply can't miss it! Buildings admonished with colourful doodles and pieces of artwork. It's fantastic to see an area so completely covered in art, and really is very different! The street itself is around a mile long and starts from the Huangjueping Railway Hospital and stops at the 501 Art Repository.

After taking in all of the wonderful doodles it's worth to stop by in this area for a drink or a bite to eat. There are plenty of local bars and cafes run by local artists, giving this area a particularly Bohemian vibe. This area is of course still bustling but feels slightly less manic than the city centre so is a great way to get away from the centre and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Chongqing.
