I sent CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL SERVICE money in January for a trip for a third party, they gave me a load of false and incorrect information, when they were supposed to organise the trip, at the very last minute they asked for a further 4,500-6,900 US Dollars, when I became suspicious and refused to send any more money, they refused to refund my original payment of £1,237 British Pounds . By keeping my money they are just common thieves and this is common theft. "In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property or services without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it". SEND THEM MONEY AT YOUR OWN VERY REAL RISK!!! I genuinely can not speak lowly enough about them.

So I was walking towards the Forbidden City to try to get tickets to see the city last minute. I encountered this girl who approached me and asked if I needed a tour guide. Her name was Jasmine and charged me 200rmb to tour the place. It was a bit pricey but I said okay anyway cause it was late and the Forbidden City would be closing soon.
Her tour was okay, not as informative as I would have liked but she took the time out to take care of me and give me as much information about the Forbidden City as she could. What I didn't like was how she made me go to this tea house to try tea and was unknowingly charged 50rmb! And here I was thinking it was a nice gesture considering how cold it was outside. That's fine.
She then proceeded to ask what my plans were for the next few days. I told her I wanted to see the Mutiianyu Great Wall, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and whatever else I could see in one day since I was leaving in a day and a half. She then proceeded to call a manager from a tour group named Andy to arrange a private car for me with a driver and a tour guide for 600rmb. It sounded like a good deal so I agreed. I then paid her and we parted ways.
The next day, the tour guide was waiting for me in my lobby with the driver. I told her I needed to pick up my passport in the embassy and she said it would be fine. I mean, I WAS paying for the driver for the whole day right? So I pick up my passport in the embassy and we then go on our way. Right then and there she asked for the whole payment for the day (600rmb). I was thinking that was a bit weird cause we had literally just started. But I ended up giving her $100 since this equated to more or less 650rmb.
When we got to the first stop which was the Temple of Heaven, she told me I had 30mins to go around and she would wait for me there. I was like, NO WAY. I had a feeling she was going to scam me and leave me because she already had my money so I told her she was coming with me even if I had to pay for her ticket. What was I paying for a tour guide for if not to guide me right? She huffed and puffed and didn't want to go but eventually did. So we did a quick trip, took a few pictures then went back to the car and headed toward the Juyongguang Great Wall. Not the Mutianyu which I wanted to go to cause it was too far according to her. The whole time she was asking if I wanted to go to a Jade and silk museum and I said no cause I did not want to waste my time since I was paying for the private car. I also had a feeling I was going to be asked to pay some sort of "fee" in those places so I declined.
I had a weird feeling I was being scammed so I asked for my $100 back and gave her 300rmb instead, half of the total payment, which I thought was fair.
When we got to the Great Wall, she told me she would get my ticket for me. I asked her how much, she said 45rmb. I said that I would just get it myself. When we both went to the ticket booth, lo and behold tickets were only 35rmb! What a scammer. She then did the same thing - I had x minutes to go up and take pictures; she didn't want to go with me cause she was hungry. Well I didn't know I was touring myself?! I insisted that she come with me. She was complaining the whole time. We literally went up, took some pictures and went back to the car. At that point I was really feeling uncomfortable. On the way back, she then asked for the other half of the payment. I said I would pay her when she dropped me home. It was only around 1pm at that time so I told her I wanted to pass by the Artzone 798. Her reply? "Too far too far." Wow. I was feeling a bit hungry so I asked her if she can drop me in a restaurant. She said okay but they wouldn't wait. I was wondering what happened to my full day? We reached my hotel at around 230. I asked if she can wait for me. I would just pee then asked to be dropped at a restaurant to eat. She said no. Since they dropped me back at my hotel that was it. She then proceeded to ask me for a tip?! I was like NO. Can you believe these people? I've included her photo ID and the card she gave me. Please beware. Call them if you want to be scammed in Beijing. I was so disappointed.

How to Spot Fake CITS
During our long-term work, we have received a large number of complaints from travelers about their terrible travel experience provided by fake CITS. Here are some easy steps on how to recognize fake CITS and their products.
Contact Information
The email address of CITS staff ends with “@cits.com.cn” and the telephone number begins with 86-10-8522XXXX or 86-10-6522XXXX. Any company offers contact information with a mobile phone number (86 + 11 digits) or private email (such as xxx@gmail, xxx@163.com, xxx@126.com, etc) is certainly a fake one.
Besides, if a website does not have a ‘contact us’ page, or offers only an online form that to be filled out, it is a strong indicator of fraud.
Tour Fee
Generally, the price of CITS one-day group tour is about USD 50 – 80 per person, and USD 90 – 150 for a one-day private tour (excluding accommodation).
Fake CITS offers much lower price or even “free-of-charge” trip. Tourists are forced to pay extra fees and spend more time in tourist shops during the trip. In some cases, tourists will even been dropped off during the way to the Great Wall if they refuse to pay more.
Sources of information
CITS never pass out flyers or brochures on the street, at sightseeing spots or in hotels. Please get the brochures or promotional materials from official CITS stores.
Bank account
For the payment, CITS accepts bank transfer or online payment via PayPal. The beneficiary of CITS’s bank account is ‘CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL SERVICE LIMITED, HEAD OFFICE’, and the PayPal account is ‘paypal@cits.com.cn’.
When you do bank transfer to the fake CITS, you will find the bank account beneficiary is an individual person or an irrelevant company.

The first part of our trip was in Beijing and Nancy Feng spent three days with us, showing us their beautiful city and sharing all of her knowledge (we loved her!). The second part of our trip, Mr. Li was hired to pick us up at the airports and train stations on several occasions and get us to where we needed to be. He was great! Then, we went to X'iam for the Terra Cotta Warriors and had Ms. Coco for our guide for two days. What an experience! She was very knowledgeable and delightful. What a professional team we had! Thank you CITS!

Last month I made a 2-week trip to China (Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Xi'an). I have traveled extensively around the world, and I usually make all my own arrangements. However, based on my experience from previous trips to China, I realized this would be challenging in China, especially from a linguistic perspective, so I contacted CITS to arrange a private tour. The service I was provided was outstanding. The agent with whom I dealt answered all my inquiries promptly and completely. She was unfailingly courteous, and she made several useful suggestions. All the arrangements worked out perfectly. I could not have been more satisfied. I would urge anyone planning a private tour of China to consider CITS.

We chose the Jinshanling because it is said that the view is the best among all parts of the Great Wall in Beijing, although it takes more time to get there. After our visit, I think Jinshanling is quite worthy of a visit. I lived in Beijing, and have been other parts of the Great Wall, including Badaling, Juyongguan and Mutianyu. It turned out that the Jinshanling owns the most amazing scenery.
I booked a full-day service of a mini-van with CITS to Jinshanling, which made our trip more flexible. The driver was professional and polite, and the van was in good condition.
We leaved very early in the morning and it took a 2.5-hour car ride from downtown to Jinshanling Great Wall. My friend and I had a pleasant hiking for about 3 hours on the Wall. The views were spectacular. The most important thing was that there was no crowd. And the return trip was almost 3.5 hour due to the bad traffic.
If you only have one chance to visit the Great Wall in China, the Jinshanling is your best choice.

We had a great couple days with Annie as our guide to Beijing. She met us at the train station (as we arrived from Shanghai) and transferred us to the hotel. We arranged a meeting time for the next day.
She was perfectly on time each of the three days we met. First day we traveled out to he Muitianyu section of the Great Wall. We took the chair lift, enjoyed about 2 hours hiking the wall, and then had a fun toboggan ride down. Annie took us to a Chinese tourist place for an authentic Chinese tourist lunch which was delicious. We then did a quick stop back in Beijing at the Olympic Park - Bird's Nest and Water Cube (not a lot to do but neat to see). Then we headed to the Hutong where we had a fun rickshaw/pedicab ride through the Hutong while Annie shared some info about it. We ended at a family's home in the Hutong who invited us in to see how they lived. Very cool.
Day two - we went to Tienanmen Square and Forbidden City and had a great several hour tour, where Annie shared a great deal of knowledge and details we found very interesting. Lunch this day was a Beijinger local place not too far from the Forbidden City. We ended the day with a nice walk around the Summer Palace and dragon boat ride across the lake.
Last day she went with us to the airport and ensured we got checked in and off on our way.
Great arrangements and Annie was terrific! Highly recommend -- and the price of just over $300/person for the three of us including the driver/car, both transfers and two lunches was great.

We had a great trip to Hangzhou from Shanghai. Our tour leader was wonderful and very friendly. We were a little concerned because we didn't have a lot of specifics after we booked until very close to the date of the tour. However, all worked out really well. We were picked up at our hotel and delivered with a ticket to the train station with directions on what train to take and where. Another guide was waiting for us in Hangzhou and she took us to a Pagoda (6 Harmonies), a tea plantation and WestLake. She was lovely and answered every question we had and was full of good information. She too delivered us back to the train station and our original guide met us back in Shanghai to take us back to our hotel.
Luckily, my worries were unfounded! A wonderful day from start to finish!

China International Travel Service planned a 16-day trip through China for my wife and I. We started in Beijing and traveled to Pingyao, Xi'an, Chengdu, Emeishan, Chongquing, a Yangtze River Cruise and finally Shanghai. The guides they provided spoke English well and did a good job. The hotels in which we were booked were 5-star and excellent. My only complaint was the amount of food provided to us at lunch. We typically received enough food to feed eight people, not two! But all in all, a great trip, and we would use CITS again.

Our guide - Snow (that's her name) - was very knowledgeable about China, Beijing, the history and political situation too. She was very good and could answer all of our questions. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

I booked a 2-day private tour for my family (including my mom who is on wheelchair and my very active 2-year old son. Our tour guide Jason was very professional, nice and friendly. He was always on time in arriving at our hotel waiting for us to start the tour. He was very considerate about us especially that we have mobility issues and my son was having occasional tantrums. As language is a challenge anywhere we went to in Beijing, it was really very convenient for us to have our own private tour and really helpful tour guide who sometimes had to be our translator. Our trip would not be perfect if we didn’t need it took this tour. Thank you so much to Jason and the rest of CITS team.
