we were very satisfied with our tour, expecially thanks to our guide Mrs Lilly.
She speaks very well english with a good prononciation ( and this is not to be taken for granted!).
She is a knowledgeable, professional and very helpful person. She treated us like family: she lent me her forks which are not always present in restaurant and then at the end of our tour she even gave them as a gift!
she also was available to make an optional tour as there was time.
I suggest CTS! and iur guide Lilly!

CITS is fantastic! We had reached out to them to arrange a private tour across China and they were amazing - beyond expectations. They accommodated both my kids and my elder parents and the tour guides spoke brilliant English. Thank you CITS for making our trip so fantastic.

CITS lied to me about the deadly situation in China and even told me that it would be fully contained by mid-February. They took my deposit in January and have not yet refunded me, claiming that it takes time because they have so many refunds to issue. I was looking forward to rebooking once it was safe to travel to China, but now I don't think I can trust CITS.

We took a trip to the Great Wall of China using this tour company. It was the worst decision we have ever made. The tour was appalling and the tour guide equally so. They advertised different tours and then told us that they were no longer available.
Our main problems with this tour:
1. We got into the bus where the tour guide demanded more money, she insisted that we hadn't paid for entrance to the different places.
2. When we refused to hand over more money she told us that instead she would drag us around different factories in order to make up the money and make it possible for us to do our trip.
3. She demanded a tip literally ten minutes after we got into the minibus. She told us that we needed to pay it at the end and to remember that our fee didn't include that.
4. We spent about three hours in various factories and 1hour30 at the Great Wall.
5. They didn't want to take us to the sites listed on the advert for this trip. We were driven past the Olympic Stadium. They then pulled over for us to walk up to have a look and demanded their tip before we left.
Finally when we refused to hand over a 100 tip to each of them before the end they said they would wait for us and wait to drop us off to the hotel. We returned to find no minibus, the tour guide and driver gone and their phones were no longer being answered. The trip was awful from start to finish. It was meant to be a lovely final day to our trip and it ended up being a nightmare for us and the other couples on our trip.
I would never recommend this service to anyone ever unless they were willing to buy countless items from factories at overpriced shops. I also wouldn't recommend this trip to anyone who wanted to spend time at the Great Wall.

Dear Sir/Madam
It is sorry that you had such a bad experience in Beijing.
From your review, we think that you encountered a fake company or individual who pretended to be CITS or CITS staff. Would you like to send us the information of your contact person (name, telephone number and email address)? Then we could check if he or she is our staff or not.
For CITS one-day tours:
1.CITS guides never ask extra money from our clients. The tour price includes the entrance fee of attractions, the English guide service, air-conditioned coach, a lunch and pick-up and drop-off service from your hotel.
2.CITS offers alternative prices of tours with or without shopping. The price of No-shopping tour is a little higher than later one. You will be informed this term when you were booking and receive a confirmation by email.
With our ‘No shopping tour’, you would enjoy more time to visit without going to any shops and factories. If you choose one-day tour with shopping, you will be taken to 2 shopping stops and you only purchase items on your own will. The time of shopping is about 30-40 minutes.
3.It is true that the quotation we offered doesn't include the tips for the guide and driver. Tips are not required and are entirely voluntary. Tipping or not to will not affect CITS guides’ performance.
4.None of our tours includes Olympic Stadium in the itinerary.
5.For the visiting time of Great Wall, if clients book no-shopping tour to Mutianyu Great Wall, the visiting time is 2.5 hours; and for the ‘Tours with shopping’ of either Badaling Great Wall or Mutianyu Great Wall is 2 hours at least. It was not 1.5 hours in your case.
It is really appreciated that you could send us the information of your contact person so that we could check it.
Thanks a lot!
Regards

Ross Garden Tours (Australia) used Harry (Zhang Feng?) as our national guide over 19 days, supplemented by guides local to provinces we visited along with Paul the Ross Garden Tours representative. Plenty of time allowed for nonscheduled factory visits and then rushed through all the sights we went to China to see. At the Forbidden City we spent more time waiting for Harry to obtain our entry tickets than we spent inside (until we protested). Once inside, according to Harry every single Museum and gallery was closed, despite open doors, people entering and leaving etc etc. In 19 days we visited many places and saw very little - we arrived, waited for tickets to be purchased, had a photo taken and were then rushed through. Harry was overly concerned about our spending our money unless through him going as far as telling us market/street vendors were fixed price and shouting something at one of them that resulted in their refusing to sell to us.
At Luoyang Peony Festival there are many Peony gardens in close proximity. We were taken to the National Garden, well past its best but he wouldn't take us to any of the other gardens, refusing to acknowledge a problem or, that other gardens with different varieties would have later flowering blooms.
We spent half a day hanging around an airport when reporting for an internal flight but Harry had a wrong passenger list, so our early morning flight became afternoon flight and a lost day.
Harry is unsophisticated and ignorant with no conception that pax outside China are often well traveled and thanks to Mrs Google might have some knowledge of the sights we are to visit. It was the bare faced lies that got me.
Best of all was the melt down in Xi'an when he offered us as 'extra tour' one evening. When only a few took up the offer he shouted and carried on that unless he got a minimum number it wouldn't run. He required nearly all the tour to sign up.
Some how we were there for his benefit.
And what was the Ross Garden Tours (Australia) rep doing? Flapping his hands and and saying "this is China". I spent nearly five weeks in China and Hong Kong in April and May, luckily CITS and Harry was the worst of it. I would love to visit China again but would have nothing to do with CITS.

Went to the Forbidden City last week and this girl approached us and offered touring services for 200rmb. Pricey but accepted anyways. She did a decent job but it wasn't a very thorough tour. Brief history, didn't set the scene for what happened or who lived in different areas of the Forbidden City. We went to the tea house that she brought us to inside the City and neglected to tell us each person to try tea was 50rmb. Meaning the tour company is probably in with the tea house and gets partially some of the 50rmb per person they get to sit in there. We thought the tea was complimentary to try since we were planning to purchase a tin of tea anyways. Long story short, towards the end of the tour she asked what was the itinerary for the remaining time of our trip. We were only staying one more full day and wanted to see the Great Wall. She said immediately called someone on her phone and said she'd give us a good deal on a tour the following day. We accepted, parted ways and the next day followed.
At 8am, the new tour guide was waiting in the lobby for us as we were finishing up with breakfast, the driver had the car waiting outside. The only thing that even went right with the entire day and company tour. We proceeded to the car but had to go to the embassy first to pick up a passport so we could fully experience the tours, as we were paying 600rmb for the entire day. 8am-6pm, supposedly is the time we were suppose to have. They immediately asked for all 600rmb upfront which was strange because the day prior, the tour guide only expected it at the end of the tour. Gave her $100USD and she accepted since its equivalent to 680rmb or so. 600rmb for the entire day of tours, 20rmb for the road fee, and then a little extra as a tip.
We headed to the embassy and they had to wait for a little while because it took a bit to get the passport. I'm glad I stayed in the car to make sure they didn't run off with the money for the day while the passport was being picked up. The entire time they were complaining, "taking too long" sighing, etc. Afterall, we were paying for their services. I don't know about you but I think they were getting a good deal by getting paid to wait for a little while and not having to drive, tour, etc. Just over an hour passed, the passport was picked up and we were on our way.
First stop was the Temple of Heaven. Just wanted to take a quick picture of it, a quick history of it and that's all. No longer than 30 minutes at most. The girl didn't want to tour us. We got to the gate, purchased both of our tickets and the tour guide said she'd wait in the car. We paid for a tour guide, to TOUR US AROUND AND TELL US THE HISTORY, ETC...... She huffed and puffed, rolled her eyes and essentially threw a fit saying she didn't want to go with us like a complete child. I had to basically force her to come with us. Purchased her ticket and we were on our way. Rushed to the temple itself, took a quick picture and was on the way back to the car. Total time, around 10 minutes, no greater than 15 minutes. I have this strong feeling that she was going to leave while we were touring the Temple of Heaven at that point. I didn't trust her.
We then headed to the Great Wall. We wanted to go to Mutianyu Great Wall section but she said it was too far. Apparently another thirty minutes for the price we paid to go see Mutianyu didn't matter to them. More likely them wanting to be completely lazy which they've already proven thus far. We are the paying customers and the tour guide the previous day said we could see whichever part we wanted. We headed to Juyongguan Great Wall section instead.
We got near the Great Wall, had to pay the highway fee. 20rmb is what they asked for. Might I remind you we paid them $100USD which was equivalent to around 680rmb which we thought we had already paid for the highway fee.
Went up the hill to the Juyongguan Wall section and then something miraculous happened. The tour guide said that the tickets were 45rmb each and asked for the money so she could buy the tickets. I declined and wanted to go buy the tickets myself because we had been riding for just over an hour. Want to know something funny? The tour guide said she tours at Juyongguan Wall section 5-6 days a week, depending. We walked up to the ticket booth and guess how much the tickets were? A mere 35rmb! Seems a bit strange that the tickets were 10rmb cheaper than what she told us when she asked for the money and wanted us to wait in the car while she got the tickets.
When we were buying both our tickets, once again she brought up that she wasn't going to tour with us and pointed us to where to go. I got very annoyed at this point and told her I don't know why I even paid them to "tour us" when THEY WERE DOING NO SUCH THING. She complained she was hungry and that she goes to the Wall all the time and it doesn't interest her so she has no interest in being there at all. Once again, I got this strong feeling they were planning to abandon us far away from the city by stealing the money for the tour.
Managed to essentially force her to come up with us up the first 10 minutes of the stairs. My goodness it was a climb. The stairs are so much steeper than one would think from a distance but worth it! We climbed up about 200-250 stairs and got to the first covered section on the Wall. I'm unsure what the little guard house thing is called. We took some quick pictures and then headed down. We got back to the car and then headed back to the Chaoyang district where our hotel was.
The tour guide kept pushing on going to the jade and silk museum or market. I'm unsure which it was. We kept declining the offer because we had very little time and just wanted to go to the DaDong restaurant. We asked to be dropped off at the restaurant and she said yes. Might I add, it's about 12:45pm by this time. When we got closer to the hotel we asked to drop us off for a few minutes to use the restroom and to drop some of our things off quickly prior to driving 15 minutes to the restaurant. They said it wouldn't be a problem.
Here comes the kicker. We arrived at the hotel and said we'll be back within 10 minutes and they said no and that the tour was over. Earlier in the day they said we had until 6pm..... They said we arrived back at the hotel and that it's the end of the tour. They told us an hour previous that they'd drop us off for a few minutes to drop things off inside our room and use the restroom. Afterwards, THEY ASKED FOR TIPS!!!!!! I wish I would've been mean and only gave them 300rmb max because when we got to the hotel it was only I believe 2:10-2:15pm...... What happened to our other 4 hours....?????? We were suppose to part ways early when they dropped us off 15 minutes later at DaDong restaurant. We also wanted to go to Art Zone 798 but you know, the answer they gave was "too far". They didn't go "too far" out of their way to demand what they wanted to do or to change the entire schedule we had planned with them earlier.
IF YOU WANT TO BE SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED AND SCAMMED LIKE WE WERE, THEN BOOK THIS COMPANY.
I've included a couple pictures of the "tour guide" and company card.

How to Spot Fake CITS
During our long-term work, we have received a large number of complaints from travelers about their terrible travel experience provided by fake CITS. Here are some easy steps on how to recognize fake CITS and their products.
Contact Information
The email address of CITS staff ends with “@cits.com.cn” and the telephone number begins with 86-10-8522XXXX or 86-10-6522XXXX. Any company offers contact information with a mobile phone number (86 + 11 digits) or private email (such as xxx@gmail, xxx@163.com, xxx@126.com, etc) is certainly a fake one.
Besides, if a website does not have a ‘contact us’ page, or offers only an online form that to be filled out, it is a strong indicator of fraud.
Tour Fee
Generally, the price of CITS one-day group tour is about USD 50 – 80 per person, and USD 90 – 150 for a one-day private tour (excluding accommodation).
Fake CITS offers much lower price or even “free-of-charge” trip. Tourists are forced to pay extra fees and spend more time in tourist shops during the trip. In some cases, tourists will even been dropped off during the way to the Great Wall if they refuse to pay more.
Sources of information
CITS never pass out flyers or brochures on the street, at sightseeing spots or in hotels. Please get the brochures or promotional materials from official CITS stores.
Bank account
For the payment, CITS accepts bank transfer or online payment via PayPal. The beneficiary of CITS’s bank account is ‘CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL SERVICE LIMITED, HEAD OFFICE’, and the PayPal account is ‘paypal@cits.com.cn’.
When you do bank transfer to the fake CITS, you will find the bank account beneficiary is an individual person or an irrelevant company.

Dear Gary,
It is sorry that you had such a bad experience to use PayPal. We recommend PayPal because many clients like it. It could protect their credit card information from merchant so that lower the risk of credit card fraud.
For the payment, we accept bank transfer and online payment via PayPal. The additional bank or PayPal transaction fee shall be covered at clients’ own expense.
1.about the non-instant payment
According to PayPal’s instruction, a client could choose instant payment (by credit card, such as Visa or Master) or other way (not instant, such as check or debit card) of his/her own free will. As far as we know, 98% of our clients who used PayPal chose the instant payment. So we received their payment at the moment they paid. We are not sure whether it was because that you related ‘non-instant’ method to your account or caused by other accident.
2.about extra charge for currency conversion
Firstly, it is really appreciated that you told us what happed in this case. We have no idea that PayPal will charge 3%-4% for currency conversion before then. We’ve contacted PayPal to check it and found that they do have extra charge for currency conversion if you use other currency except US Dollars.
Thank you for your feedback and it is very helpful for us to know the truth. To improve our service, we will remind our customers about it in the future. We will work carefully on your booking and make sure your booking go smoothly.
Thanks for your understating.
Best regards
CITS

I sent CHINA INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL SERVICE money in January for a trip for a third party, they gave me a load of false and incorrect information, when they were supposed to organise the trip, at the very last minute they asked for a further 4,500-6,900 US Dollars, when I became suspicious and refused to send any more money, they refused to refund my original payment of £1,237 British Pounds . By keeping my money they are just common thieves and this is common theft. "In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property or services without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it". SEND THEM MONEY AT YOUR OWN VERY REAL RISK!!! I genuinely can not speak lowly enough about them.
