We visited this gallery a few days ago. I have purchased jade from Myanmar, but really never knew the difference in their quality. I was wearing a jade bangle, and the first thing the salesgirl told me that the color of my jade was difficult to find today! She then started explaining the difference been my jade which is a jadeite,a very good quality of jade (which I didn't know), interesting to learn the quality, different colors, and prices. Of course they had all kinds of jade, jadeite, from the cheapest to the best quality. We then chose a few items without looking at the price, and of course got carried away and bought a few items for my family and friends. I negotiated the price with the manager, and he after a long discussion reduced the amount, although I know, he still made a good profit from me. I agree that they are quite expensive, but if you are looking for an A+ quality then you have to pay the price. Interesting visit..don't get carried awy like me!

The Beijing Dragon Land Jade factory is a great place to visit particularly if you are looking for Jade. I went on a tour bus so the time was limited. What I found was that while I wanted to browse and see what they had the staff member followed me constantly so I felt that I did not really get a good look around at my own leisure. Having said this the staff member was helpful and pleasant.
There is so much to look at and varies in grades of Jade. The prices also vary and I purchased 2 bangles and a statue I thought that was expensive but after going around different parts of China realised that the price I did get was in fact very good and the Jade is real and not fake as some other areas try to sell. The Jade Factory also said they had 40% off but they may do this all the time. You still can try to get the price down.
I would say that this is the best place to buy because of the variety and also you know you are getting genuine Jade.
At least they had a coffee shop within the store for guests with proper coffee and the coffee was excellent. At least the men can sit and wait there.
Overall I would have liked more time but would have spent more money!

We were brought to this place by our tour guide.
We were given a presentation on jade. We bought the face massager which were on discount. We also bought 2 customized stamp chops which were quite expensive. You know what? We went to a nearby market and saw the exact same stamp chop for an extremely low price! More than 70% off compared to the price we paid at this museum.

We visited this Gallery. There are some amazing jade works here. Certainly, if you are planning to buy a jade souvenir, this is a great place to do so. There is an informational presentation about jade and the Chinese Culture. Then you are allowed to shop and explore the myriad of beautiful pieces. There is jewelry, as well. You are not required to buy anything, of course.
An interesting stop. You may also learn more about jade in Shanghai at the Museum there.

The presentation was interesting and although we visited many places with a strong sales focus this one was either well refined or soft sell. The facts about jade were well explained and the available items on display were interesting, even if you are not looking to add to your collection.
The family balls (seen in the photos already published on tripadvisor) are fascinating and if you are lucky you can see them being made. They represent the interconnection between generations. They are carved from a single piece of jade: a ball within a ball, within a ball. We purchased one that was three generations. You can get up to eight. The more generations, the more skill required, the larger they are and of course the more expensive they are. These are meant to become family heirlooms.
To top off our visit, the coffee bar had really good coffee to stave off the caffeine withdrawals.

Let me preface this by saying that this was a "mandatory" stop (1of4) for our tour. We knew it was baked in and made peace with it. That being said, we looked forward to it, none-the-less because we all wanted to learn about Jade and see some fine jade pieces. The gallery had everything, every color, every style, every price range, including half a million dollar giant pieces of fine jade sculpted into intricate designs. You got a 15 minute intro into the quality of jade, the history of jade and how the generation ball (that's what I call it) is made. The restroom was nice! Why do I say this? What's the relevance? You'll find out - LOL!
So, as I stated above, this stop was one of the 4 mandatory sales stops. You do not have to buy anything. Noone makes you, although they are good at offering to sell you jade - lol. We bought a couple of very nice pieces and I was happy with my purchase, even though I knew that I probably paid too much!

Here, against my will - my tour company China Tours Net did not disclose we would stop here for 2 hours - and whilst waiting and wasting my time, noted a few unassailable facts about the place. They employ slick, polished, misleading salespeople whose use of culture, history, and jade's health benefits including their insistence that jade aids in detoxification by strengthening the body’s filtration and cleansing systems, boosts the immune system, improves the heart, lungs, and thymus and stimulates Qi– the Chinese version of your “life force”. None of which is proven. I asked but was met with a stone faced blank stare.. They employ aggressive salespeople who take it as a personal affront if you do not buy. Their prices are expensive and includes a "hidden" commission to the tour operator that brings you there. There is, however, a very good selection of different sized, shaped, coloured artifacts that is very impressive. For me, more a gallery than a shop.
Our lunch here was mediocre at best. They should stick to their "polished" process and the "Art of the Sale"...

Enjoyed seeing how the jade was carved and made into different shapes. The history behind it is very interesting and some of the sculptures and lamps are impressive. Very pushy for you to buy items which put me off buying anything at all.

We were very impressed with the displays and the young lady who spoke to our group about the history and properties of Jade and Jadeite. We bought a very beautiful necklace for my wife and have received countless comments on it's appearance. Prices are high, but very negotiable.

Our tour guide stopped here on the way to the Wall to pick up a piece she had repaired. We asked if we could check the place out too and she said sure. Some of the pieces are amazing. The salespeople were just a bit pushy but I have no problem communicating quickly that I'm not interested so it was not a problem for me. We spent maybe 20 minutes here and they gave us a free cup of tea.

Hi Jennifer, we recently returned from a trip to China and also visited that location. I bought some Jade and when I returned home people told me the Jade wasn't real. How did you know your jade was real.

I bought four wonderful jade bangles for holiday gifts but they didn't all fit. They were too small. Do you do exchanges for larger bangles? Do you even have larger than 2.5? Thank you. Barbara Carson
