This is an iconic place. Good place for photos. It faces Tiananmen Square. We were in front of this to watch the flag raising ceremony in Tiananmen Square. It is free to enter this gate but you have to pay to enter other gates.

Quite a sight to take in and an enormous area to experience. Spotless despite the number of people it holds.

Other than the terrible air quality, this place is simply amazing! You can’t help but marvel at how spectacular this must have been at the time it was built.

Such a worthwhile site in Beijing. Interesting how the Chinese judge someone's "rank" by how many dragon heads they have on their buildings. They also like to put in 5, 7 or 9 dragon heads, rather than 1, 3, or 5. An emperor or high-ranking...More

The first thing we noted was the great amount of security present, it definately made us feel safe. This is an area of great historical pride for the Chinese people.

We had an escorted tour of Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City while on a visit to Beijing. A great experience and a must if you are visiting Beijing and have enough time.

If you can manage to, like we did, take a picture at this iconic location to cherish it for a lifetime. After that, enter the palace museum for an inspiring experience.
